As an English, Theatre, and Speech and Debate Teacher, I've got issues and thoughts on issues. My students call them my "rants". Everyone has their soapboxes, their certainties/beliefs, and each voice is important and should be heard! So, let's Rant together!

I also firmly believe that literature of all forms makes up a part of who we are, our beliefs/thoughts, and what we do with them to create.

In this podcast we discuss:

1) Rants: What's your certainty/soapbox? Let's have a respectful discussion about it.

2) Raves: The Literature/authors who have inspired you, your life, and your work.

3) Reviews: A discussion and review of your work (whatever you do), or what you believe others should be reading/watching/listening to and why.

This is a video about Ghost Stories and Family Ties: The Paranormal Worlds of Terri Reid

Host Tanya Roundy interviews indie author Terri Reid about her journey from freelance newspaper work and a PR/marketing business to full-time writing after the 2009–2010 market correction. Reid’s debut Kindle novel, Loose Ends (2010), became an early Amazon success, and she built a career by producing books rapidly, including the 20-book Mary O’Reilly paranormal mystery series and the newer MORA (Mary O’Reilly Alden) series. She discusses her approach to ghosts as people, faith- and hope-centered themes, and strong focus on family and community. Reid shares personal experiences collecting local ghost stories, living in a 150-year-old farmhouse, and how her worldview informs her fiction. She highlights her new release, The Secrets of Lilac Lane (MORA #4), and her podcast with her son, Voices From the Attic.

Host Tanya Roundy interviews author and former police officer Stan Cronin about his life in Arizona, his church mission in the Manitoba-Minnesota Mission, his divorce and remarriage, and his path to writing. Cronin shares how his book How to Date Your Wife grew out of seeing family fights while policing and interviewing women about successful marriages, and how he also created clean joke books from decades of collecting jokes. He discusses a vivid dream inspired after hearing Kenny Rogers’ song “A Soldier’s King,” which prompted him to write a four-book Christian historical fiction series centered on Mercury, a Roman soldier ordered by Caesar to hunt a prophesied king in Judea, and how researching Roman life and scripture shaped the story. Carol Sackey on Co-Writing a Devotional with Her Daughter | Seek First the Kingdom of God

On Roundy’s Rants, Raves and Reviews, host Roundy interviews California author Carol Sackey about co-writing a devotional journal with her 18-year-old daughter, Isabelle, titled “Seek First the Kingdom of God… for Your Journey.” Carol shares how the project began as a personal gift for her children as they entered the teen years, then grew into a published book shaped by family discussions, Isabelle’s perspective (including the title), and input from Carol’s husband. She also discusses their first book, a family project written during COVID about the pandemic’s impact, and describes themes in the devotional such as using time wisely, counting blessings, empathy, maintaining the right mindset, and practicing kindness amid anxiety, depression, and social pressure.
