このコンテンツについて
In this episode, stay-at-home father of two, Jake Suitter and I explore the many benefits of risky play to a child's development. Through his Instagram account, Jake often writes about risky play in today's childhood, as well as his own journey of stepping back to give his kids the space they need to develop their physical and mental acuities through play.
It is often telling of our society that we need to describe this type of play as "risky," when risk has been a natural element of play since time immemorable. We tend to be so risk-averse these days that we often shut down kids' natural inclinations to take risk.
But are we truly protecting them, or are we unintentionally doing more harm than good by keeping everything so safe for them all the time? These are some of the questions Jake and I discuss in this episode. Follow along for some really good insights from two parents, who like you, are trying their best to balance safety and play for our kids.
Jake can be reached on Instagram, through his handle @jakeandkids.
