Surrounded, Not Defeated: What to Do When You Feel Surrounded | Luke Simpson | Revelation Church STL

Ever felt surrounded by loss, loneliness, anxiety, or a problem with no way out? Elisha's servant woke up to an army surrounding the city, but the prophet prayed one prayer: "Lord, open his eyes so that he may see."

In this message from 2 Kings 6 and Ephesians 1, we look at the difference between what you can see and what is actually real. The enemy never sells you the cage, he sells you the cheese, but no weapon formed against you will prosper. We look at why too many Christians surrender to an enemy that is already defeated, why praying timid, safe prayers is not the same as faith, and how "fake piety" keeps us from asking the God of the impossible to do the impossible. Discover what it looks like to stop staring at the size of your problems and start seeing the size of your God, because there is more with you than there is with them.

Have you ever been in church, felt God move, and then walked out like nothing happened? Moses met with God face to face, but it was the one who stayed behind, Joshua, who led God’s people into the Promised Land.

In this message from Exodus 33, we look at the tent of meeting, where the Lord spoke with Moses “as one speaks with a friend,” and at Joshua, who did not leave the tent. From the garden to the cross to the Holy Spirit now living inside every believer, God’s plan has always been to dwell with His people. When everyone else moved on, Joshua lingered, and there is a blessing for those who linger: freedom from addiction, anxiety, and depression, forgiveness from guilt and shame, and a new sense of purpose. Discover what it looks like to stay in God’s presence until His work is finished, and why an encounter with Him always sends you out to bring others in. The message closes with a time of prayer for healing and a blessing over the church.

Do you ever feel like you’re stuck going in circles—praying the same prayers, fighting the same battles, and showing up to church week after week without seeing any real progress? When life gets cloudy, our feelings can lie to us, convincing us that we’re trapped in a rut and going nowhere. But feeling like you aren't moving doesn't mean God has stopped leading you.

In this message from Psalm 23, we look at how shepherds guide their sheep up steep terrain in Judean wilderness paths called magalei—switchback loops that feel like repetitive circles, but are actually gaining elevation with every turn. Just as pilots must rely on their flight instruments rather than their emotions when experiencing spatial disorientation, we must trust God’s Word over our temporary feelings. Stop waiting for life to get easier before you find peace; discover how praising God in the middle of the battle changes your perspective and reveals His presence right where you are.
