I started Renovating the Soul because I believe in something that took me a long time to say plainly: you already have what you need. The tools are not hidden. They are sitting right in front of you. But you have to pick them up.

That means truth. Honesty. Self-reflection. Hard conversations. Admitting mistakes. Acknowledging wrongs. Distancing from what is keeping you small. It means things you won't even know you need to do until you face them. None of it is easy. But all of it is available to you.

The foundation you were given wasn't your choice. Rebuilding is. This is not a podcast about having it all together. It's about the real, unglamorous, ongoing work of becoming. Faith, identity, relationships, generational patterns, purpose, discipline — all of it, honestly.

Your soul is your home. Let's make it a place you want to live.

  • Your Body Has Been Trying to Tell You Something: Functional Health with Dr. Shalli Deyo | Ep. 23
    2026/07/29

Dr. Shalli Deyo spent over 20 years as a pharmacist before she stopped trusting the system she worked inside. Two sons with compounding health conditions, a medicine cabinet full of things that weren't solving anything, and eventually, a decade of watching food and gut health do what prescriptions couldn't. That journey is what brought her to functional medicine, and eventually, to this conversation.

Alexandria and Dr. Shalli get into what functional medicine actually looks at and why conventional medicine keeps missing it, the elimination diet and how it works in practice, the gut-brain connection and what it means for focus, mood, and inflammation, and why the symptoms most people brush off as normal are often early warning signs worth paying attention to.

Alexandria talks about going through Dr. Shalli's program with her husband, the grumpiness of the elimination phase, the grocery store tour that changed how she reads a label, and why her seven-year-old now interrogates every item they put in the cart. Dr. Shalli talks about what she sees with couples, the pattern of women wanting to make changes while their partners resist, and why waiting until something is seriously wrong is the most expensive approach to health there is.

If you've ever felt like your doctor was managing you rather than helping you, or if you've normalized symptoms you've had so long you forgot they weren't supposed to be there, this is for you. More energy, clearer thinking, a plan you can actually follow — it's all on the table. Hit play, then subscribe, share this with someone who's been told "it's normal," and leave a review with the biggest health question you want answered next.

  • Why We Homeschool: What Nobody Tells You About Educating Your Kids at Home | Ep. 22
    2026/07/22

Outsourcing your child’s formation sounds normal until you blink and realize you don’t recognize who they’re becoming. I’m Alexandria Robinson, and I’m walking you through why our family chose homeschooling, not as a trendy identity, but as a conviction about parenting, responsibility, and the long game of raising future adults.

I unpack the biggest homeschooling myths head-on: “homeschool kids are weird”, “they won’t have friends”, “I don’t have patience”, “I can’t teach”. Then I share the real-life stories behind our decision, including what I experienced in public school as a kid, what I saw when I worked around schools, and why bullying, violence, and age-inappropriate exposure aren’t rites of passage we should accept as inevitable. We also talk about how often families try other options first, what daycare and private pre-K taught us, and why “the school will handle it” can quietly turn into parents living in reaction mode.

You’ll also hear what a structured online homeschool can look like day-to-day, from curriculum support and progress tracking to recordkeeping, PE and fine arts requirements, clubs, meetups, and ways to build real homeschool socialization through neighborhood life and sports. I end with a simple metaphor: parents are the general contractor, schools are the subcontractors, and the foundation is still on us.

This one will hit differently if you have kids, if you were shaped by your school experience in ways you are still untangling, or if you have ever wondered whether the way things have always been done is actually working. But the content could benefit ANYONE for sure.

Important Note Before You Listen: This episode contains a brief reference to explicit content discussed in the context of childhood exposure in school settings
