  • Best Motivation Speech from Jordan B. Peterson
    2026/10/10

If you can't suicide, make the task smaller.
If you make the task small enough, you will never fail to progress. But that can be pretty humiliating.
Everything starts with the first step. The smaller the step, the faster you can take the next step—and the faster you progress. The faster you can change your direction and change your life, without frustration and even with fun.
When you recover from a severe disease, you need time and patience to do the same things again.
The Keith Jarrett ExampleFor instance, you want to play piano and improvise like Keith Jarrett in his famous Köln Concert—but you've never played piano before.
If you have such a huge goal, you will fail. Then every hour you spend learning piano feels like a waste of time.
If you don't believe me, try playing on a keyboard. You don't even have to try playing on a broken Bösendorfer piano, like Keith Jarrett did in his Köln Concert.
How to Fail AgainIf you have already failed three times or more, it's pretty hard to try again—because you've programmed your mind to fail.
So how do you avoid that?
Check what you did wrong. Make a big list. Then get coached by another person to gain more insights on how to do it the right way.
The Trap of Self-FocusThe more you focus on yourself, the more miserable you are.
What does that mean? Today's narcissism wants you to believe that you are the most important thing. And so the relationship between you and a problem gets out of proportion.
Instead, focus on the solution to the problem—without interference from your ego. That makes you far more effective.
Even with relationship problems, if you focus mostly on yourself, you can't discover the struggle your spouse has with you. And then nobody knows where the real problem is.
The Solution: Put All Cards on the TableI'll tell you something: put all your cards on the table. Then you can discover where the real problem is.
Nearly all problems can be solved once we have identified the problem.
For example, if your wife is upset with your child, she might not even know the real reason why. Maybe the problem was with her neighbor, and she projected her anger onto her child.
If she doesn't tell you the whole story, you would think the problem is with your child.
She puts all the cards on the table—and you just listen. Only then can you identify the problem.
Don't assume that you or she already knows the problem. So listen until you identify it.
The Danger of LyingWhat if we lie?
You waste your time. After some time, you start believing your own lies.
How can you solve your problems then?
You live in a fantasy world—and your fantasy world will crash. Nobody can help you, and you can't really help other people. For your children and your spouse, you become a nightmare.
    Don't waste time. Be honest.
A Funny Story from Paul WatzlawickHave you read this funny book?
"The Situation Is Hopeless, But Not Serious: The Pursuit of Unhappiness"— Prof. Paul Watzlawick
In one story, a husband no longer likes eating the cornflakes that his wife has been serving him for twenty years. She complained, saying, "But you said you loved them!"
He replied: "Because you gave me cornflakes on our first day of marriage, and I didn't dare to complain."
    Be honest—at every price.

  • Instead of trying to be somebody, be yourself
    2026/10/13

    – by Jim Carrey
Let go of the need to be something for somebody.
Say no when you don't want to. Don't feel obligated to please everyone.Don't chase selfies—choose kindness and friendliness instead. Selfies freeze the world; they stop life.
You want to put on a big show, but all you're doing is giving people a false sense of relevance on social media.I see people posting about their greatness on Facebook while showing zero genuine interest in others—and eventually, they even disable comments. It's a predictable cycle: narcissism, arrogance, and then the fall.
Everyone talks about depression these days. But what's the real difference between depression and sadness?Sadness arises from something that happened—or didn't happen—to you.Depression, on the other hand, comes from a deeper place: "I don't want to be this character anymore."
Your body and mind are crying out for deep rest—rest from the fictional identity you built for others.People are depressed because they've lost touch with who they truly are.As long as you're trying to be something for the world, you'll remain depressed. The cure is simply to be yourself.
When we're in flow, emotions like happiness and sadness pass through us naturally. But depression lingers. It stays.
Fear will always be a player in your life—but you get to decide how much time you spend worrying about ghosts and future pathways. The only thing that ever truly exists is this moment—and the choice we make right now.We can choose love or fear, but never both. Where fear lives, love cannot.
Fear is a terrible guide. It's our worst enemy.People often dress fear up as "practicality," but that's just disguise. You'll never find peace by avoiding what scares you or concerns you.
If you follow your own path, obstacles and risks will always appear. The question is: will they stop you or challenge you?Without challenges, life becomes dull. And yet, we don't need to go looking for more hardship—we simply surrender to what comes, and we allow ourselves to rest.
Too often, we choose partners out of fear rather than from the heart. You can't avoid uncomfortable people or difficult situations forever. The deeper the love, the greater the risk of loss. But instead of learning to handle drama, many of us avoid love altogether—just to dodge the discomfort.
Peter Lindbergh, one of the greatest portrait and fashion photographers in the world, was once asked: "Why didn't you marry a positive-thinking, motivating woman?"His answer? He said he'd rather die than marry someone like that—because he valued deep feeling over superficial nonsense.Just look at his portraits. Every single one tells a story.

  • Your Phone Is Destroying Your Sense of Meaning
    2026/10/17
A Wake-Up Call from Arthur Brooks and the Science of Happiness1. The Crisis No One Is Talking AboutWe face a huge crisis—and it is caused by the device in your pocket. For young people, frustration and depression have never been higher. And this is directly linked to the use of mobile phones.Emotions are being suppressed. Logic is winning. And meaning is disappearing.2. Why Meaning Matters More Than AnythingViktor Frankl, psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor, proved how essential meaning is for human survival. In the concentration camps, the Jews who could not find a reason to live did not survive. They died—not from hunger or disease, but from hopelessness.Frankl wrote:"Those who have a 'why' to live can bear with almost any 'how'."Meaning is not a luxury. It is a survival mechanism.3. A Personal Story: The Power of PurposeI had a friend who had to undergo heart surgery.I asked him: "Focus on what you will do after the surgery."He was in a coma for 14 days. But he held onto that vision. He had a reason to survive. And he did.I have asked this question to every terminally ill person I have met. Those who had a reason to live—lived. Those who did not—died.Meaning is not abstract philosophy. It is life or death.4. What Is Happiness? (According to Arthur Brooks)Arthur Brooks teaches the science of happiness at Harvard. His definition is simple and powerful:Happiness is:Enjoying what you are doingBeing satisfied with your accomplishmentsKnowing the meaning of your existenceThree pillars. One life.If you lack any of these, you are not happy. And today, most people lack all three.5. The Two Questions You Must AnswerAccording to Brooks, you are failing at life if you cannot answer these two questions:Question What It RevealsWhy am I alive? Who created you? What is your purpose? For what would I be willing to give my life? What do you value more than yourself? If you don't have answers, you are unhappy. You are lost. You are a loser—not because you are worthless, but because you have not found your worth.6. The Data Is ShockingIn a graph Arthur Brooks presents, a huge surge began in 2008.People started feeling that their lives are meaningless. What happened in 2008?The iPhone was introduced in 2007.Social media exploded. The attention economy went into overdrive. We traded meaning for convenience. And we are paying the price.7. Your Brain Has Two Hemispheres—And Your Phone Is Killing OneHemisphere Function How It WorksLeft Rational, logical, problem-solving "How do I do this?"Right Emotional, creative, meaning-making "Why am I doing this?"When you look at your phone, you activate the logical, left side of your brain. You push away your emotions. And with logic alone, you can never be happy.Love, faith, meaning, connection—these are not logical. They are emotional. They are right-brain functions. But your phone is training you to live entirely in the left hemisphere.8. The Matrix Is RealWe are living more and more like the movie The Matrix. We wake up, grab our phones, scroll social media, see our "friends" through a screen. That is not real life. That is a simulation. And soon, AI and Super AI will decide for us.We will become passengers in our own lives.9. The Left-Hemisphere LifeBrooks describes the left-hemisphere life as:Love things, use people, worship yourself. That is life online. You love your phone. You use people for validation. You worship your own image. That is not happiness. That is addiction.10. How to Get Back to the Right HemisphereStep 1: Rage Against the Machine—or Form a New RelationshipYou cannot keep using your phone the way you are using it.No mobile phones in schools. No mobile phones in universities. This is not extreme. This is survival.Step 2: Ask a Question That Google Can't AnswerGoogle can tell you the capital of Mongolia.Google cannot tell you:Why are you alive? For what would you give your life? These are questions only you can answer.Spend time with them. Sit with them. Let them change you.Step 3: Give Your Heart AwayUse things—with gratitude, with energy, with purpose. But do not love them.Love people—really love them. Sacrifice for them. Be present with them.Worship the Divine—whatever that means to you. God. Spirit. The Universe. Something greater than yourself. That is how you become human again.11. The Real CrisisThe crisis is not that we are addicted to our phones. The crisis is that we have forgotten what it means to be alive. We have replaced:Love with likesFaith with algorithmsMeaning with notificationsConnection with commentsAnd we are miserable.12. A Challenge for YouToday, do this:Leave your phone in another room for one hour.Sit in silence and ask yourself: "Why am I alive?"Write down your answer—even if it feels incomplete.Ask yourself: "For what would I give my life?"Write that down too.If you cannot answer these questions, do not panic.Start searching. That search is the beginning of meaning.13. Final ThoughtViktor Frankl survived Auschwitz because he had a reason to ...
