  • Facing the Inner Critic
    2025/06/12

In this episode, we explore the quiet epidemic of male loneliness—and how much of it begins with something we rarely question: the voice inside.

It’s time we get to know—and even befriend—the inner critic that so often shapes our sense of self, our relationships, and our capacity for connection.

    You’ll learn:

    • Why so many men feel alone, even when surrounded by others

    • Why you might not actually be an introvert…

    • How the inner critic drives self-isolation—and what to do about it

    • A simple 3-step practice (N.A.W.) to begin healing your internal dialogue

Whether you’re a man navigating this yourself or someone who loves one, this episode is a doorway into deeper self-acceptance, presence, and connection.

  • From Avoidance to Self-Authorship
    2025/06/05

The pattern that’s keeping you stuck isn’t your fault — but it is your responsibility.

In this episode, I share the moment everything shifted for me. Specifically, the moment I stopped blaming my life, my partner, and the world around me… and surrendered to the path of self-authorship instead.

    We explore:

    • How we unconsciously avoid the parts of ourselves that most need witnessing

    • Why requesting vulnerability and openness doesn't work — and what to do instead

    • The circle experience that cracked open my inner world and began my real transformation

    • How emotional self-responsibility opens the door to deep presence and power

    • A powerful reframe that can help you lead your life from the inside out

And I offer a guided self-inquiry practice through these reflection questions, including:

    • What inside of me do I struggle to witness?
    • What does this part of me long to express?
    • What do I struggle to accept is part of me?
    • What would it be like to hold that part?

    • How can I take full responsibility for learning about and leading all of what’s inside me?
    • How can I own the choices that have gotten me here?
    • What would it look like to own them with love AND an intention to grow?
    • How can I hold all that’s in me with curiosity, honesty, and loving awareness?
    • What does that look like in this moment?

If you’d like this reflection as an expanded and free guided meditation, email me at dave@purnimaclinic.com or DM me @dave_lishansky with the word “Meditation.”

  • The Unwanted Parts of Us: Who Holds the Key to Change?
    2025/05/29

In this episode of Reclaiming the Gentle Man, we dive into one of the most important obstacles in personal and relational growth: the unwanted parts of ourselves.

These are the qualities or behaviors we often try to suppress, reject, or change—because we believe that by doing so, we’ll become better versions of ourselves.

But what if this approach is exactly what’s keeping us stuck?

    In this episode, we explore:

    • Two core beliefs that hold us back from what we really want in life and relationships

    • The powerful difference between trying to exile a problematic behavior and coming into relationship with that part of us

    • Transforming conflict into connection

By the end of this episode, you’ll have a clearer understanding of what it actually looks like to lead yourself—and your relationship—by embracing the parts of you that might feel difficult or unwanted, instead of trying to get rid of them.

May this episode reconnect us to ourselves, to one another, and open the doors for reparenting the parts we may have lost touch with along the way.
