Multiple fire engines have battled a hotel blaze on Anglesey overnight.

Five engines tackled the fire at the Harbour Hotel in Cemaes, which broke out shortly before 11pm on Thursday, 3 July 2025. Nobody was injured in the incident and damage is currently unknown.
The Harbour Hotel in Cemaes has long been a cherished local spot – serving up hearty meals, refreshing drinks, and offering a welcoming place to stay for those seeking a break from the everyday.
Like many small businesses, the Harbour adapted swiftly during the Covid pandemic. It continued to provide its much-loved meals through takeaway services, helping to preserve jobs and support the community through uncertain times. Remarkably, the lockdown also offered a rare opportunity: a full renovation of the building. So when restrictions finally lifted, guests returned to a beautifully refurbished venue – one that might not have been possible without that unexpected pause.
Since reopening, the Harbour introduced a refreshed menu that delighted locals and visitors alike. Renovations continued behind the scenes, gradually giving the space an even more vibrant feel.
Summers were especially joyful, with the Harbour playing a key role in the Cemaes Carnival – hosting lively BBQs (weather permitting!) and providing a gathering place for celebration and connection.
The recent fire is undeniably a setback – but it’s not the end. Investigations by the fire service are underway to determine the cause, which will inform the insurance process.
While insurance is expected to cover much of the physical damage, we’re currently in a holding pattern – awaiting outcomes and decisions about the next steps. Ideally, the payout will help with structural repairs, lost income, staff wages, and even personal belongings affected by the incident.
