The Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) is accepting applications for its upcoming Citizen Police Academy, an engaging program designed to provide community members with an inside look at modern law enforcement.

The program begins on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and meets from 6-9pm for nine consecutive Tuesdays at the PVPD Training Room at 7601 E Skoog Blvd.

The Citizen Police Academy is designed to educate, inform, and encourage open communication between the police department and the community. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, interact with officers, and gain valuable insight into the decision-making processes involved in policing.

One of the Prescott Valley Police Department’s (PVPD) goals is to reduce crime and the fear of crime. According to the Commonsense Institute Arizona, the state currently ranks 11th in the nation for financial fraud. To help residents protect themselves, PVPD offers several specialized classes and safety programs.

Available programs include the NRA-certified "Refuse to be a Victim" class, targeted scam and fraud prevention presentations for community groups, and personalized home or business security assessments through Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).

Certified crime prevention specialists are available Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, to answer questions from anyone in the Quad-Cities area. Community members can reach specialists by phone at 928-772-9261 or submit presentation requests via email at PDCPO@prescottvalley-az.gov.
