The Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) is accepting applications for its upcoming Citizen Police Academy, an engaging program designed to provide community members with an inside look at modern law enforcement.

The program begins on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and meets from 6-9pm for nine consecutive Tuesdays at the PVPD Training Room at 7601 E Skoog Blvd.

The Citizen Police Academy is designed to educate, inform, and encourage open communication between the police department and the community. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, interact with officers, and gain valuable insight into the decision-making processes involved in policing.

One of the Prescott Valley Police Department’s (PVPD) goals is to reduce crime and the fear of crime. According to the Commonsense Institute Arizona, the state currently ranks 11th in the nation for financial fraud. To help residents protect themselves, PVPD offers several specialized classes and safety programs.

Available programs include the NRA-certified "Refuse to be a Victim" class, targeted scam and fraud prevention presentations for community groups, and personalized home or business security assessments through Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).

Certified crime prevention specialists are available Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, to answer questions from anyone in the Quad-Cities area. Community members can reach specialists by phone at 928-772-9261 or submit presentation requests via email at PDCPO@prescottvalley-az.gov.

Sharlot Hall Museum and the nonprofit Vision of Vets today announced the opening of "Profiles in Courage," a permanent, free exhibit that lets visitors hear America's combat veterans tell their own stories. The exhibit is now open in the Liese and Rosenblatt Gallery, located in the Archives Building Lobby at 115 S. McCormick Street, Prescott, Arizona. Prescott Valley will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. This annual, town-wide event invites neighbors to come together and strengthen connections with one another and with the first responders who serve our community. Each year, the evening brings a special sense of energy and unity as residents and first responders build the positive relationships that make Prescott Valley such a great place to call home. Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) looks forward to this event every year.

Throughout the evening, PVPD officers, along with members of Central Arizona Fire and Medical (CAFMA), and representatives from the Town of Prescott Valley will visit Block Watch parties to meet residents and answer questions. If your area does not have an established Block Watch group but would still like to host a National Night Out event, we would be happy to stop by! Events can be as simple or as festive as you’d like, ranging from BBQs, potlucks, ice cream socials, or simply gathering with neighbors in a driveway or cul de-sac.

Prescott High School freshmen will get a hands-on look at the cost of adulthood this August through The Reality Store, an interactive financial literacy program designed to help students connect classroom learning with real-world decisions. The program, presented by the Prescott Branch of the American Association of University Women in collaboration with The Launch Pad Teen Center, will take place August 25 and 26 at the Prescott High School Library for the school’s Freshman Academy.
