Healing Through Art: Transform Emotion Into Color
In this episode, Courtney walks you through a complete Healing Through Art workshop designed for adults, one you can follow along with at home using watercolor, acrylic, crayons, or colored pencils. This isn't about creating a masterpiece. It's about moving heavy emotions out of your body and onto the page.
The process begins with a card pull from the Inner Child Oracle Deck, setting intention for the work ahead. Courtney then guides you through identifying emotion points, fear, frustration, anger, self-image, overwhelm, resentment, shame, guilt, and assigning each one a color based on pure intuition, not logic. You paint or color these feelings as shapes and sizes that feel right, letting the medium do what it naturally does: spread, blend, create watermarks, surprise you.
This integrated processing technique engages both hemispheres of your brain: language on the left, color and imagery on the right. As emotions move from body to canvas, you may yawn, sigh, or feel energy shift. That's the work happening.
Once dry, you transmute the painting into something positive. You might trace every line and watermark with meditative music playing, or flip the image upside down to see it from a new perspective. You might discover an image hidden in the shapes and outline it with marker.
Courtney also shares examples from past workshops and explains the color guide used in professional healing sessions, what purple, green, blue, and yellow typically represent in emotional processing.
