  • Are we in a Constitutional Crisis?
    2025/04/15

    Send us a text

In this gripping and deeply unsettling episode, we walk listeners through a real-life constitutional nightmare that every American should be paying attention to. Imagine starting your morning with government agents at your door—no explanation, no charges, no rights read to you, and no court appearance. Instead, you and your loved one are taken and forcibly deported, without warning, despite being legally permitted to remain in the country. This isn’t a dystopian thriller—it’s the true story of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a legally present immigrant living in Maryland with no criminal record and full protection under U.S. law.

The episode dives deep into the disturbing case of Garcia, whose 2019 immigration court ruling granted him protection from deportation due to verified threats from gangs in El Salvador. Despite that ruling and an active federal court order, ICE agents, under the direction of executive power, detained and deported him with no due process—no warrant, no indictment, no hearing. We analyze how this blatant disregard for the law directly violates 8 U.S.C. § 1231(b)(3), which prohibits the removal of individuals to countries where they may face persecution.

More alarming, this episode unpacks the constitutional violations at the heart of this case. Garcia’s Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment rights—his right to due process, equal protection, and a fair hearing—were completely ignored. The Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure were bypassed. His Miranda Rights, required for custodial interrogation under the Fifth and Sixth Amendments, were never given. Even more brazenly, the government acted in contempt of a standing federal court order, demonstrating a chilling willingness to override the judicial branch.

This isn’t about immigration policy—it’s about every American’s freedom. When our government can disappear someone with no evidence, no charges, and no trial, no one is safe. If we allow these violations to continue unchallenged, we open the door to unchecked executive power, eroding the very principles of liberty and justice that our country was founded on.

Listeners are urged to consider: if it can happen to him, what’s to stop it from happening to you?

The episode concludes with a powerful call to action for vigilance, accountability, and legal integrity. This is not a partisan issue—this is a moment for Americans of all stripes to defend the Constitution itself. Because, as the Founders warned, “When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.” And tyranny, once allowed to root, grows quickly.

  • Conspiracy Finds a Home at The Epoch Times
    2025/04/14

    Send us a text

What if one of the most widely shared conservative news sources on social media wasn’t just a media outlet, but the mouthpiece of a fringe spiritual movement—one that believes in demons, karma, and a cosmic showdown between good and evil?

In this explosive episode, host Shane E. Burkett pulls back the digital curtain on The Epoch Times—a media juggernaut that grew from a quiet anti-communist newsletter into a $122 million empire, pushing everything from political conspiracy theories to climate change denial, all while allegedly laundering millions through a complex financial web.

But the deeper you dig, the stranger it gets.

We trace The Epoch Times back to its spiritual roots—Falun Gong, a movement founded by Li Hongzhi, who claims to possess supernatural powers and preaches a blend of qigong, alien mythology, and anti-scientific beliefs. What started as a peaceful resistance to Chinese Communist persecution evolved into a global spiritual-political hybrid—and The Epoch Times became its digital sword.

This isn’t just a case of media bias—it’s a story of blurred lines between faith and propaganda, between ideological warfare and information manipulation. Through firsthand accounts, investigative reporting, and leaked memos, we explore how the organization channeled Falun Gong’s apocalyptic worldview into a coordinated social media strategy that made Breitbart and Newsmax look like amateurs.

From obscure beginnings in 2000 to viral Facebook posts reaching hundreds of millions, The Epoch Times found its groove not in journalism, but in digital evangelism—pushing content that fed America’s growing appetite for divisiveness and moral clarity.

But in 2024, the cracks split wide open.

CFO Bill Guan was indicted for allegedly running a sophisticated money laundering operation that funneled illicit funds into the company’s accounts, allegedly inflating revenue by over 400%. Suddenly, the empire built on spiritual warfare and clickbait headlines was under federal scrutiny—and facing an existential crisis.

Founder Li Hongzhi distanced himself, warning his followers to stop engaging in political attacks. The Epoch’s leadership quietly shifted. Their Hollywood ambitions through Epoch Studios began to stall. And what was once the right’s favorite viral content mill is now navigating its most unstable chapter yet.

    In this episode, Shane unpacks:

    • 🔍 The founding of The Epoch Times and its entanglement with Falun Gong
    • 🧠 How spiritual ideology shaped editorial decisions and media expansion
    • 📈 The meteoric growth from $3.8M to $122M in five years—and the hidden cost
    • 💸 The federal indictment and what it reveals about their funding strategies

  • Was Donald Trump for Gender-Affirming Care in Prison?
    2025/03/19

    Send us a text

The debate over gender-affirming medical care for incarcerated individuals has become a political flashpoint, but how much of the rhetoric actually reflects reality? In this episode of Perspective: Faith, Science, Politics, and Life, we break down the facts versus the claims.

The controversy reignited when the Trump campaign launched a nationwide ad blitz, spending $11 million to push a narrative about Kamala Harris’s past statements on gender-affirming surgeries in prisons. The ad used a 2019 interview out of context, implying that Harris was pushing for widespread access to these procedures. But in reality, her comments were focused on her tenure in California, where she worked behind the scenes to ensure inmates received necessary medical care.

The constitutional foundation for providing necessary medical care in prisons dates back to a 1976 Supreme Court ruling, which held that the government has an obligation to provide adequate healthcare to inmates. The real debate is not about whether care should be provided—it’s about what constitutes medically necessary care.

And what about immigrant detainees? Some political figures claim there’s widespread access to these procedures in ICE detention facilities, but there’s no record of any such surgeries happening. The average detention stay is only 47 days, making it nearly impossible to complete the extensive evaluation process required for surgery.

At the heart of this debate is the difference between reality and political spin. While campaigns push sensationalized claims, the actual implementation of gender-affirming care in prisons is highly regulated, medically reviewed, and limited in scope.

    What’s Next?

    • Expect more court rulings at the state level on what constitutes necessary medical care.
    • Watch how political candidates frame the debate as election season intensifies.
    • Understand that this is not about unlimited access or massive expenditures—it’s about following legal and medical protocols for incarcerated individuals.

In the end, this entire discussion circles back to the constitutional principle established in 1976—that the government must provide necessary medical care to those in custody. Everything else is about how that obligation is fulfilled responsibly.

  • The Dangers of Prophetic Religions
    2025/03/16

    Send us a text

In this episode, we dive into one of the most extraordinary moments in American religious history—the Great Disappointment of 1844. Thousands of people abandoned their homes, livelihoods, and possessions, convinced that Jesus Christ would return on October 22. When the prophecy failed, the fallout was massive, leading to despair, denial, and the birth of new religious movements.

But this isn’t just a history lesson—it’s a psychological case study on belief, brainwashing, and cognitive dissonance. Why do people double down on failed prophecies instead of walking away? What makes us vulnerable to certainty over reason? And how does this same pattern repeat today in conspiracy movements, cults, and even political ideologies?

From William Miller’s miscalculated prophecy to modern-day movements that refuse to let go of disproven beliefs, this episode explores why we keep falling for the same trap—and how to avoid it.

🎙 Tune in for a gripping, thought-provoking exploration of faith, delusion, and the power of critical thinking.

  • Whatever Happened to The Fairness Doctrine
    2025/03/13

    Send us a text

For nearly 40 years, U.S. broadcasters were legally required to present balanced viewpoints on controversial issues. This was the Fairness Doctrine, a policy that shaped American media from its origins in the 1930s to its repeal in 1987. But was it a safeguard for democracy or a tool for political manipulation?

In this episode, we trace the history, impact, and controversy surrounding the Fairness Doctrine. We start with its early enforcement, when the government required radio and TV stations to air diverse perspectives due to the scarcity of broadcast frequencies. This approach was upheld in 1969’s Red Lion Broadcasting v. FCC, where the Supreme Court ruled that public access to balanced information outweighed broadcasters’ free speech rights.

However, the doctrine didn’t always work as intended. The Kennedy administration weaponized it against right-wing media, deliberately forcing small conservative stations into legal and financial trouble through repeated fairness challenges. By the 1980s, critics argued that instead of promoting diverse viewpoints, the doctrine stifled free speech. Under President Reagan, the FCC voted to repeal it in 1987, paving the way for a new era of partisan media, including the rise of conservative talk radio and figures like Rush Limbaugh.

But the debate didn’t end there. Even today, politicians have called for its return, arguing that the modern media landscape—filled with misinformation, polarization, and social media echo chambers—demands new regulations. But would reinstating such a policy even work in the age of podcasts, YouTube, and digital media?

Join us as we break down the complex history and lasting impact of the Fairness Doctrine, exploring what it reveals about media regulation, political influence, and the ongoing challenge of keeping the public informed in a democracy.

  • The Sordid Past of the Man who Shaped the Modern Evangelical Faith

Gerhard Kittel remains one of the most controversial figures in 20th-century biblical scholarship, remembered both for his contributions to theological studies and his active role in Nazi antisemitism. Born in 1888 to the renowned Old Testament scholar Rudolf Kittel, he became a respected biblical lexicographer, most famous for his Theological Dictionary of the New Testament—a reference still used in theological circles today. However, his legacy is deeply tainted by his ideological alignment with the Nazi Party and his role in advancing antisemitic policies through academic discourse.

This podcast explores Kittel’s dual identity as both a scholar and a propagandist, delving into his early academic achievements, his alignment with Nazi ideology, and the moral dilemmas posed by his work. In 1933, Kittel joined the Nazi Party, framing it as a moral renewal movement, and went on to actively support antisemitic policies. His infamous lecture, Die Judenfrage (The Jewish Question), proposed policies that would later be enacted under Nazi rule, including stripping German Jews of citizenship and barring them from professional fields.

Despite his post-war defense that his scholarship was purely “scientific” and “Christian”, many scholars—including William F. Albright—hold him accountable for providing intellectual justification for Nazi racial policies. His story raises critical questions: How can academia be weaponized for political ideology? How should modern scholars engage with the work of those complicit in oppression?

Join us as we unpack the life, work, and legacy of Gerhard Kittel, examining how one of the most influential biblical scholars of his time became a key figure in the Nazi regime—and what his story teaches us about the responsibility of scholars in shaping ideology and history.
