Parasite Eve II, how does this game rank amongst the others of the survival horror golden age? How does it compare to the first game? And is this the best-looking game graphically on the PlayStation 1?

Spencer and Cameron are back in another Survival Horror Retrospective Review on the Silent Evil Podcast. This time continuing into part 2 of Aya Brea's journey against the mitochondria terror creatures. If the first game had a Die Hard meets Lethal Weapon vibe, the second one goes for that X-Files take on the investigation. Learning more about how these mutations are occurring and her involvement in the whole crisis.

PE 2 is defiantly a crowning achievement in the graphics department. The gameplay leans more in line with Resident Evil 2 and only keeps a fraction of its RPG heritage. Some mechanics are totally dialed in where other issues keep this game shy of being just as perfect as the first game was. Still, it's well worth the adventure and we will say it does hold up well in the top tier categories of that gold age of horror games. Hopefully Square will bring back Aya's adventures in either a remaster collection, remake, or even another sequel. All good options in our book.

The Plot - Parasite Eve II follows Aya Brea, now an agent for the FBI’s Mitochondrion Investigation and Suppression Team (MIST), as she battles a resurgence of twisted Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures (NMCs) two years after the events in New York. When a mysterious outbreak strikes a small desert town in Nevada, Aya is sent to investigate, uncovering a sinister conspiracy involving rogue experiments, genetic manipulation, and a deadly new strain of mitochondria capable of infecting humans. As she delves deeper, Aya’s own evolving powers become both a weapon and a key to stopping the threat, culminating in a desperate battle against a monstrous entity poised to trigger a global catastrophe.
