We genuinely enjoyed watching it unravel, and now we have so many theories! Be warned, this episode touches on all our reading thus far in anticipation of the release of A Court of Splintered Harmony (OUT TODAY!) – that means Throne of Glass, Crescent City, and all the previous ACOTAR books. THE WAR IS UPON US… and ohmygosh, it’s already over. A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas has more schemes, politics, and battles than the first two books, and they escalate quite quickly. We’re so here for Feyre’s pettiness in dismantling the Spring Court, the effects of the cauldron, and all the cleverness as it plays out in the ways the characters exact their revenge (but we also have whiplash over some content that we need to discuss). And revenge is also being exacted over in Bravo’s Below Deck Med, where Gen literally purchases a fresh glass of red wine to throw on Luke (could never be us– we drink, not waste). Nathan tries to get his last jabs in at Joe, who is too drunk to understand how things escalated in the first place, and Aesha stands up for her friend by telling a truth that everyone needed to hear. We are skipping A Court of Frost and Starlight, but we’ll catch you up on the important facts before we dive into THE LAST BOOK BEFORE THE NEW RELEASE. Are you ready? We might not be, but we’re here anyways! We’re kicking off our ACOTAR reread with the entirety of A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas—and, surprisingly, we have MORE positive things to say this time around! Who would’ve thought? We have to be honest, we weren’t the BIGGEST fans on our initial read, so this time we’re approaching the book with a more optimistic lens and reading purely for funsies and vibes. We still have some thorny reactions to the first book, but we’ve heard that’s pretty normal for this series! Maybe rose coloured glasses aren’t always such a bad thing? Speaking of rose coloured glasses, Below Deck Med has us wondering… WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT that Gen having a positive, fake it till you make it attitude would’ve helped her be better? (It was us, we thought about it for multiple episodes). Some other crew members may be viewing things through the same glasses, and we hope they see things clearly soon! We’re looking at you, Kat! And finally, the ladies of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City are headed to San Francisco, where things are getting pretty dirty—but not in the way you’d think. It's time to embrace the DELULU and prepare for the crash outs, because some things MUST end, and we have come to that ending. As we enter the FINAL chapters of Kingdom of Ash, part two, by Sarah J Maas, there are no more embers left—only an inferno (and Ash 🥺) . Our court is no longer just rallying unlikely allies, they are fighting for their lives, their kingdoms, and each other. Aelin’s light has been tested, broken, buried, and somehow STILL refuses to go out 🔥. There are battles, sacrifices, reunions, revelations, and approximately a million reasons to SOB. We are not okay. We will never be okay (we tried to maintain decorum on the pod). Speaking of not ok, Kat has crossed a threshold she can’t come back from with Gen, and now everyone’s issues are seemingly on the table on Bravo’s Below Deck Med. If Gen had an aura metre available right now, we’re sure it would be overloaded in delulu. Is there a crashout impending? And lastly, we can’t talk about crashouts without thinking of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, where the slopes are somehow less dangerous than the meal that follows. As we enter Kingdom of Ash, part one, one might be scared that we are left with mere embers from a princess who loved her kingdom very much. Our court is rallying unlikely allies, fighting til their last breath, battling enemies – AND EACH OTHER, and trying to save their world from not one, but two Valg menaces. Aelin’s battles are internal, and it may seem like her light is BLINKING (🥺)out… but, by the end of part one, that small flame will become an inferno, and she is herself once more. We’re definitely crying. And as if that wasn’t enough, we’re also crying over Mary Cosby’s loss in the season premiere of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Alana is introduced to the housewives and is beginning to form her opinions with no peek into the previous seasons – yet. Suffice to say, she will have a lot more to say soon! And onboard Below Deck Mediterranean, more fires are being stoked as Nathan is confronted by Captain Sandy for his disastrous decisions, and she picks Joe to drive the boat, further fanning the flames. Gen risks a fire by poking Joy with a laundry “mishap”, and she continues stoking fires as she sends *just one* text message. Here’s hoping the yacht will not burn down. We’ve finished the tandem read, or did the tandem read finish us? It’s really hard to tell… but almost every one is in shambles, and left in the dark about a LOT of new and imperative information. In Tower of Dawn chapters 43 - Fireheart, Chaol, Yrene, Nesryn, and Sartaq are all armed with information that the rest of the group desperately need to hear. Whether it’s about the real identities of their enemies, relationships galore, family lineage, or the world needing more healers –they are going to have tea to spill when (or if) they regroup. In Empire of Storms chapters 57-75, everyone was once again left in the dark about Aelin’s plans, Elena finally admits to all the plans she had been keeping Aelin in the dark about, and now Aelin is quite literally left in the dark. In a box. Without magic. Alone. 💔 Do we think she’s learned the consequences leaving her friends in the dark yet, or…? There was also a LOT of love (maybe too much for us) in both books, but there is no love lost over with the Below Deck Mediterranean crew in episodes 13-14, as once friends, lovers, and crewmate relationships are all falling apart because of some goings on that have been kept in the dark. Next week, we’re diving into part one of Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas and because Sinn and ALL OF YOU LOVELY PEOPLE bullied Alana, we will be diving into the Bravo’s Real Housewives of Salt Lake City premiere and episode 15 of Below Deck Med. War is at our doorsteps as we continue to tandem read Sarah J Maas’ Tower of Dawn (chapters 13-42) and Empire of Storms (chapters 19-56). Old enemies, new allies, dead ancestors, and perhaps some frenemies? They all have to pick sides and stand up for what they believe in – and Chaol literally stands! Literally and figuratively! He takes a stand on his feelings, on his mission, and on his wet noodle behaviour. Maybe a bit too late because Sinn finally sees what Alana has been seeing clearly for the past 5 books and may no longer choose to stand up for Chaol. Ever again. And on the business of red flags and standing on business… the Love Island season 8 cast are back for their reunion. Everyone stood up for what they believed, regardless of glaring evidence and receipts that would have us question their positions. But hey, people love commitment to the cause, right? 🙄 While we loved what we got, we SINCEREly needed a little more ownership of actions and a little less sass. Alas, what a way to end the summer.
