John Dinges is an American journalist who was a special correspondent for Time, Washington Post, and ABC Radio in Chile. John lived in Chile during the "condor years" as an investigative journalist and witnessed the overthrow of the Chilean government at the hands of General Augusto Pinochet, which ultimately led to transnational cooperation between Latin American governments to commit political atrocities. On this episode, John shares his amazing life story, along with a detailed historical account of the "Condor Years."
John is the author of multiple books and now is a professor at the Columbia Journalism School at Columbia University in the City of New York.
