  • 88: 3 Shifts for Christian Eating Disorder Recovery w/ Brittany Braswell, MS, RDN, LD
    2026/07/07

If eating disorder recovery feels like progress some days and a fight against yourself on others, this episode is for you.

Chrissy pulls a favorite from the archives with Brittany Braswell, registered dietitian and recovery coach, to name the three mistakes that quietly stall food freedom: waiting for your body to change before treating it kindly, chasing intuitive eating without the deeper work, and reaching for coping skills that never meet the real need underneath. Brittany shares the seven needs disordered eating often tries to fill and how to make the shifts that lead to real recovery, plus what freedom following faith instead of fear looked like in her own life. You'll leave with a better sense of what's been holding you back, and a kinder way to move past it.

  • 87: Body Gratitude When Your Body Has Limits w/ Leah Bryant
    2026/06/16

If movement has always felt complicated, tangled up with body image, or the pressure to do more and look different, this episode is for you.

Chrissy sits down with Leah Bryant, the producer of Old School Food Freedom, who woke up one day unable to feel anything below the waist. What followed was emergency spinal surgery, a cauda equina syndrome diagnosis, thirty days in rehab, and a slow, faith-filled journey back to walking on her own. Together, they talk about what body gratitude really looks like when your body has limits, why shaming yourself into movement never works, and what it means to take one small step with Jesus and let that be enough. You'll leave with a different way of seeing your body and a gentler way of caring for it.

  • 85: How Faith and Neuroscience Heal Your Mind w/ Dr. Alisa Shanks
    2026/05/19

If you have ever felt trapped in the same exhausting thought loops, the impatience, the resentment, the frustration, no matter how hard you try to think your way out, you'll want to hear this episode.

Dr. Alisa Shanks is a licensed psychologist who loves Jesus and neuroscience, and in Part 2 of this conversation, she brings both to bear on something that will change the way you think about healing. Because brain science is confirming what scripture has said all along, and the path to freedom is far less like striving and far more like surrender.

This episode covers the neuroscience of joy, gratitude, and neuroplasticity, and walks you through two practical spiritual exercises you can start today. If you haven't listened to Part 1, How to Take Every Thought Captive in Eating Disorder Recovery, start there first and then come back and let Alisa show you what it looks like to uproot the poisoned fruit of the enemy, one thought, one memory, one moment of faith at a time.

  • 84: How to Take Every Thought Captive in Eating Disorder Recovery w/ Dr Alisa Shanks
    2026/05/05

If you know the verse "Take every thought captive," but still feel completely at the mercy of the thoughts that won't stop coming, this episode is for you.

Dr. Alisa Shanks is a licensed clinical psychologist with over two decades of experience in eating disorder recovery and university mental health, and she believes wholeheartedly in full recovery. What she brings to this conversation began not in a studio but in a therapy session, when the Holy Spirit planted something she couldn't stop thinking about: the fruit of the Spirit versus the poisoned fruit of the enemy, and what it means to choose which one you grow.

Together, Chrissy and Alisa walk through the full list of the fruit of the Spirit alongside their antonyms, talk about why self-forgiveness in recovery is often the hardest kind, and explore what it looks like to feel a hard emotion without planting its seed. The fruit is not something you manufacture. It grows when you stay grafted to the vine.

This is part one of a two-part conversation with Dr. Alisa Shanks. In part two, she brings the science. Come back for that one, friend. It is worth it.

  • 83: How to Stop Believing Lies About Your Body and Let Jesus Tell a Better Story w/ Chaplain Eva Bleeker
    2026/04/21

What if the story you've been telling yourself about your body was never the true story to begin with?

Chaplain Eva Bleeker joins Chrissy to explore narrative identity theory (stories) and what it means for women navigating disordered eating, body shame, and food freedom and faith.

You'll learn why healing cannot happen in isolation, how the stories we absorbed from family and diet culture shaped us more than we knew, and why Jesus, the One who took on a human body, is the best co-author your story could have.

  • 82: Eating Disorder Recovery During Pregnancy: What Your Body Is Telling You w/ Jessica-Lauren Newby, MA, RDN, CEDS-S, IBCLC
    2026/04/07

Pregnant and feeling your eating disorder thoughts creeping back in? Your body is in a completely different season right now, and you deserve support that understands both.

Jessica-Lauren Newby, registered dietitian and certified eating disorder specialist, joins Chrissy to walk through exactly what eating disorder recovery during pregnancy looks like, from navigating cravings and morning sickness without shame, to advocating with your OB, to trusting God with a body that keeps changing in ways you didn't plan for.

She also shares something beautiful: every woman who has ever been pregnant is forever marked by that baby, no matter how long she carried them.

Friend, you don't have to have it all figured out right now. You only have to take the next step, and let Jesus lead and find a community that is there with you each step of the way.

    2026/03/17

If you've been told you need a higher level of care for your eating disorder and you don't know what that means or whether you're ready, this episode is for you.

Amanda Sloan from Selah House, one of the nation's long-standing Christ-centered eating disorder treatment centers, joins us today to discuss residential eating disorder treatment, explain the difference between the levels of care, and show you what faith-based eating disorder recovery looks like from the inside, from worship and prayer to equine therapy, with Jesus woven into every part of the process.

She also talks about one of the most powerful biblical parallels to the eating disorder journey you may never have heard before.

Friend, you don't have to figure it all out before you make the call. God meets you exactly where you are, and there is real freedom on the other side of surrender.
