There is a well-known phrase which is sometimes quoted by those who have a word of condemnation for lazy people who sit around all day doing nothing, when they could be out working, making a living, and enjoying the "fruits of their labors." These folks quote a Bible verse where the Apostle Paul said to the Thessalonians "if any would not work, neither should he eat." But what about those people who are what we call "workaholics?" What does the Christian faith have to say about these? That's what we're thinking about today.

Churches today like to be known by some interesting titles: "The Community Church," "The Bible-Believing Church," "The Church Where Love Is," and there are some churches which like to be called (maybe with a note of humor), "The Church of the Covered Dish." Of all the miracles of Jesus recorded in the four gospels, there is only one which we find in ALL FOUR of the gospels - - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. When we think of someone as a "saint," we usually have in mind someone who is super-spiritual, extra holy, or in the Catholic faith, one who has been declared such because of many years of service to God, even to the point of a miraculous event. But in Paul's letter to the Philippians, he refers topeople there as "saints" also - - meaning all those who are believers in Jesus Christ. Throughout many years of church history, there have been countless people who have suffered for their faith. Are you one of these? Our subject today is "Super Promises for Suffering Saints." Perhaps God has a word of blessing for you today.
