You know the curbside. You’re already behind, trying to get some lunch, and someone catches you in the hallway. Got a second? Well, this is Not Another Curbside and it’s the conversation you’d actually choose to have. Two practicing physicians and a coach who works with professional athletes, CEOs, and high performers sit down each week with a quote or idea - from a legendary coach, an athlete, a thought leader, or occasionally Taylor’s grandfather - and break it down, test it against real life in medicine, and land on something you can use as a physician whenever you need it. Along the way, someone will probably invoke Michael Jordan, an epic movie, or the hip mobility of an NFL quarterback. It usually makes sense by the end. This is for the doctor who doesn’t want more tips on managing burnout or another physician wellness module. The premise is simple: the next level of physician performance is mental. Medical training prepared you to diagnose, decide, and take care of everyone else. What it neglected to teach you is how to manage your own mind - when a case goes sideways, a patient is angry, the schedule implodes, or you’re home but your brain is still at work. That’s what Fierce Mind Management is: physician coaching meets mental performance training. Learning to respond instead of react. Pursuing excellence without demanding perfection. Treating a miss as information rather than a verdict. And managing your energy so the people at home get you, not what’s left of you. Taylor (orthopedic surgery) and Chase (family medicine) are still in the trenches - still operating, still in clinic, and still making the most of every challenge. Michele has built a career coaching professional athletes, CEOs, and is bringing the same framework to medicine. No doubt, medicine is a difficult field to succeed in. There will always be challenges, and a better mindset won’t cancel call. But how you meet pressure, recover from a miss, lead your team, and decide what an outcome means about you… that part can be trained and WILL make you a better physician. No one gets great in isolation, even if medicine acts like you should. Come for the conversation. Stay for the brotherhood. Your lunch is already cold anyway. Tune in if you’ve ever found yourself asking: ~ Why can’t I stop thinking about that case? ~ Why doesn’t time off fix physician burnout? ~ Is work-life balance actually possible for doctors? ~ How do I say no without feeling like I’m failing everyone? ~ Who am I when the white coat comes off? ~ How do I be present with my loved ones after a shift like that? ~ What do elite athletes and CEOs know that nobody teaches physicians? ~ Can physician coaching actually help me perform at work and be present at home? • Ep #3: You Can’t Control Everything - But Here’s What You Can
    2026/10/27

You don’t have much control over what gets thrown at you in a day. Not the add-on case, not the EMR, not the call with bad news. So, what can you control? This week we’re breaking down Charles Swindoll’s famous line, “Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react to it,” and asking what it actually looks like to own the 90% when you’re leading a team, running a clinic, and trying to get home in one piece.

The takeaway is simple, but will make a whole lot of difference in your day-to-day: you control your thoughts and you control your responses - and if you’re managing those two things, you’re doing way better than most.

    Today on Not Another Curbside:

    • Why the 10% gets all your attention and the 90% gets neglected and how to flip that.
    • Why working harder doesn’t change the 10%.
    • The three-second pause that buys you more than you think.

  • Ep #2: One Mistake Doesn't Define Your Day: The Cornerback Mentality
    2026/10/27

You can have fifteen patients tell you what a great job you did, and then one thing goes imperfectly and that’s the memory that follows you home. Sound familiar?

This week we’re unpacking Vince Lombardi’s famous line, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence,” and what it actually means for a profession that selects perfectionists, then throws up challenges every day. Plus, how can a cornerback mentality help?

    Today on Not Another Curbside:

    • How tying your identity to your profession makes every bad day feel like a verdict on you as a man.
    • The cornerback mentality: why the next play has to be the biggest play.
    • Your play for the day - living a flat-line life (better than it sounds).

  • Ep #1: Pressure Is a Privilege (When You Know How to Carry It)
    2026/10/27

In our first episode, we lay the groundwork: what this show is, what it isn't, and why the next level of physician performance has nothing to do with clinical knowledge.

If you want to be at your best when there’s a ton going on, this is where to start. We discuss why we truly believe pressure is a privilege, and you’ll learn why nobody curbsides a doctor they don’t respect.

    Today on Not Another Curbside:

    • How the one thing medical training never covered is the thing we need to master most.
    • The difference between response and reaction.
    • What we can learn from Jimmy McGinty about keeping calm under pressure.
