The Patriots stumbled to a 0-1 start, sitting third in the AFC East with analysts ranking them as low as 19th overall—but don’t count them out. While QB Drake Maye struggled with three interceptions and key injuries, the defense showed flashes, and the schedule ahead is manageable. The Jets, meanwhile, are flying high at 1-0. This week’s must-win showdown against the Steelers—also 1-0—isn’t just about pride; it’s about avoiding a deeper hole. With A.J. Brown sidelined and the pressure mounting, New England’s chance to turn things around begins now.

Patriots make a swift move, bringing back safety Elliott Davison to the practice squad just one day after releasing him — forcing them to cut veteran tight end Shane Zylstra to make room. Davison, 24, originally joined in September and got some preseason snaps but didn’t make the roster; now he’s back for a second chance. Zylstra, with experience across Detroit and Buffalo, is out as New England gears up for their home opener against Pittsburgh next Sunday at 1 PM ET. These roster shuffles are par for the course in the NFL as teams fine-tune their squads before the regular season kicks off.
