“If only God would just tell me what to do!” Have you said those words? They are not uncommon from the lips of Christians. We think it would just be easy if God just told us what to do.Jonah had the privilege of being told by God directly what he was to go and do. But, he didn’t want to do it. He fled from God! A foolish pursuit, to be sure. This morning in God’s Word, we are reminded that even when God says things we don’t want to do, it is our privilege to follow him and his words, to listen, and apply them even if it’s hard. We have a Savior who kept every word that came from the mouth of God and rescued us from our disobedience. Now, we are free! Free to do what God commands.
