  • Bryan - "Instead of taking my usual path of least resistance, what if I did the opposite?"
    2023/03/11

After seeing an impactful and inspiring reel on Instagram, I knew I had to find and interview the man who had posted it. I had the fortune to chat to Bryan O'Keefe, a man on a fucking mission - tackling his life long battle with obesity. Bryan made a decision to tackle his weight in a completely different way than he was used to. In his words "Instead of taking my usual path of least resistance, what if I did the opposite?"

After finishing the audio book 'Can't Hurt Me' by Navy Seal and author David Goggins he completed an analysis of his failures, moved out into the wilderness & worked out every day - whenever he felt like it was too much, he knew he had to push himself that one rep, kilometre or length more. Bryan left weighing in at over 24 stone (153KG/338lbs) and came home, at 10 stone (63KG/138lbs).

What I enjoyed the most about Bryan was his ability to be vulnerable, brutally honest and reflective about his weight loss journey. If you want to know more about his journey or are interested in his recipe book and coaching services visit his Instagram for more information.

  • Josh - "Stop trying to make people feel better, and start supporting people to be better at feeling"
    2022/12/01

It would be difficult not to open up to Josh, he speaks from the heart articulately and assertively. We talk about his journey from planning his own suicide in 2012 to now, having built his own inner strength and resilience, he supports and empowers others to come back to themselves as a resilience coach and breathwork practitioner.

I am especially intrigued by Josh's new idea of resilience, which is what captured my attention. It is one that is fluid and allows him to struggle and ask for help. It was clear to see that he is a coach that practices what he preaches, and this is reflected in his client feedback as well as how you feel coming away from the conversation with him.

We chat about his struggle with addiction and subsequent sobriety, emotional wounding in relationships, platonic and romantic, and being vulnerable in order to stay reachable.

Check out his website www.joshconnolly.co.uk and follow him on Instagram josh_ffw to find out more about his wonderful work.

  • Aamirah - “If you make anyone else the priority in your life, it’s not your life anymore. So, no matter how small, show up for yourself everyday”
    2022/10/23

Aamirah grabbed my attention with her beautifully curated but honest beauty brand ‘abrowngirlrecommends’. In a social media world full of inauthenticity, I was struck by the heart and soul of her brand. Whip-smart and with a top-notch intuition for business, she has grown her brand in only two years from her bedroom to Pinterest panel queen. She is part of their creative success stories panel, rising stars programme and has just completed a 4-month house creators’ residency.

But most importantly, she wants nothing more than to help people feel seen and heard. It's clear to see she uses beauty to empower those who feel less represented in media, and you see her light up when she talks about opportunities to help others feel beautiful. Aamirah was prompted to get creative when following her master’s degree in chemistry, she was made redundant from her subsequent job just as COVID hit. She took a loss and turned it into a love.

We chat about her brand, representation (or lack of) for brown girls, when she feels most beautiful, and she shares a poignant lesson.

Listen as we deconstruct the mayhem and give out five wonderful awards to the protagonists of these stories. The only way to truly stay safe is to stay single.

Ps: All piss-taking was done with permission and love.

  • Nikki - More than the sum of your parts – “In a relationship that works, you’re a better version of yourself”
    2022/08/04

Nikki – More than the sum of your parts – “In a relationship that works, you’re a better version of yourself”

Nikki crossed the road from The University of Leeds to work for the BBC. What began as answering the phones for three days led to 32 years as a broadcast journalist; where she met the love of her life Rory, who worked as a newsreader for BBC radio four, together they share two brilliant children.

Nikki talks about this life-changing love, the tragic and catastrophic death of her exceptional husband Rory, who she describes as being “intimidating and relaxing all at the same time”.

We discuss the lessons she has learned in life and where life has brought her now as she sets off on a solo trip around Southeast Asia.

Fiercely funny, warm-hearted, and eloquent, Nikki Morrison (professionally known as Nikki Jenkins), joins me to discuss love, loss, and the lessons she has learned over the years.

I feel overwhelmingly honored that she agreed to give me her time and I think this episode is going to be one for the books.

Nikki leaves her cosy home in St Albans to travel solo across Southeast Asia and you can keep up with her sustainable travel journey through
