New week, new Journey With Jess podcast episode! I’m glad to have had a chance to have an open, intimate conversation with my sorority sister and close friend, Karen Barahona. Karen’s parents had her when they were teenagers which in turn shaped Karen’s childhood and teenage years. 

Karen opens up about having to take on adult responsibilities from a young age, eventually standing up for herself, and how moving out of her home at the age of nineteen ended up improving her relationship with her family. 

She talks about witnessing and experiencing abuse within romantic relationships, her anxiety diagnosis, unhealthy coping methods, and how she’s learning to manage her symptoms now.
