  • Episode 56 — Digger (2026): Corporate Greed, Climate Catastrophe and One Very Effed-Up Cat | Fork Rating
    2026/10/16

A J takes on Digger, Alejandro Iñárritu’s bizarre, ambitious and deeply uncomfortable satire starring Tom Cruise as an obscenely powerful energy tycoon.

What begins as a dark comedy about corporate greed and environmental catastrophe quickly becomes something much stranger — and considerably harder to explain without ruining the experience.

A J talks Tom Cruise disappearing beneath Digger Rockwell, the extraordinary Sandra Hüller and Riz Ahmed, a cat that may or may not represent the entire fucking planet, and a movie that keeps changing the rules while you’re watching it.

It’s absurd, cerebral, occasionally bewildering and definitely not going to work for everyone. But underneath all the weirdness is a furious examination of power, responsibility and our remarkable ability to keep ignoring consequences we can already see coming.

And A J hasn’t stopped thinking about it since.

  • Episode 55 — Verity (2026): Who the F#€k Do You Believe? | Fork Rating
    2026/10/09

A J talks about Verity, the psychological thriller starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel.

Going in without having read the book, A J considers whether the movie succeeds on its own, why psychological thrillers can be particularly difficult to translate from page to screen, and how Verity plays with what we see, what we’re told and what we choose to believe.

She also talks about Annie Hathaway’s performance, her mixed feelings about how Dakota Johnson is used on screen, the movie’s stunning cinematography, and why the story had her questioning whether there really is a perfect victim or a perfect villain.

And one final warning before you see Verity: if you’ve managed to avoid the trailer, keep it that way.

  • Episode 54 — I Love Boosters (2026): What the F#$k Did I Just Watch? | Fork Rating
    2026/10/02

Keke Palmer. Demi Moore. Fabulous clothes. Bright colours. A group of women stealing high-end fashion from people who can afford to lose it. I Love Boosters looks like it has all the ingredients for a wildly entertaining heist movie.

And then Boots Riley takes a very hard left turn.

In this episode of Movies I Give a Fork About, AJ looks at Riley’s colourful, ambitious and increasingly surreal blend of heist comedy, science fiction, political satire and outright absurdism. What begins as a seemingly straightforward story about the Velvet Gang soon becomes something much stranger — and raises an interesting question about how much expectations shape the way audiences experience a movie.

AJ digs into the film’s ideas about capitalism, exploitation, ownership and who actually profits from the things people create, while celebrating its extraordinary costumes, saturated visual style and a Keke Palmer performance that provides a much-needed human centre as everything around her becomes increasingly bizarre.

But ambition and originality don’t automatically create cohesion. With tonal shifts, conceptual leaps and enough ideas for several different movies, I Love Boosters becomes a fascinating example of what can happen when a filmmaker swings for the fences — and perhaps tries to hit every ball at once.

Is it a heist movie? A political satire? Science fiction? Absurdist comedy?

    Yes.

And somehow that still doesn’t fully explain what the f#$k AJ just watched.
