  • Women Who Over-Serve: A Contagion of Inauthenticity
    2025/06/25

In this episode, I introduce you to Louise Sutherland-Hoyt.

Louise is a seasoned therapist, Vietnam veteran, elder-in-training, fire-walker, peak-bagger, and devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and partner.

Grounded in decades of clinical work and inspired by the ancient philosophy of the Stoics, Louise lives and teaches this truth: We may not control what has happened, but we are responsible for how we meet it. Her work—through therapy, writing, and community—helps others respond to life’s deepest wounds with integrity, tenderness, and courage.

Louise speaks especially to the quiet suffering many women carry, born from a contagion of inauthenticity, a state that continues to plague generations of women, urging them to abandon their inner truth in order to feel connected Rather than rushing to fix, she invites reverence—to abide with pain, listen deeply, and keep company with what cannot be undone.

In this episode, I introduce you to Carlotta Thompson.

When Carlotta was 14, she remembers becoming enthralled with a booklet on preparing taxes.

She decided then that she wanted to work for the IRS, so at 14 years old, she began studying tax law with the dream of working for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Shortly after attaining her dream of working for the IRS, Carlotta realized that the IRS isn’t actually in place to help small businesses like she’d thought and it felt like she was working for the wrong side. As an auditor, she saw tons of tax returns with sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars of missed deductions that were detrimental for the client. Carlotta had a bigger dream and mission to directly help business owners pay the least tax legally possible, so what began as a ministry has evolved into Tax Strategists of America!

    Today she speaks about:

In this episode, I introduce you to Deborah Grassman.

Deborah is the author of three books: Peace at Last, The Hero Within, and Soul Injury, a contributing author for four textbooks, and has 25 published articles. There are four documentary films and a TED talk that feature her work.

However, none of these achievements have taught her as much as the 10,000 dying veterans she took care of as a VA hospice Nurse Practitioner for 30 years: “If anyone wants to learn how to achieve inner peace, ask a veteran who has successfully struggled to find it for the rest of their lives after they returned from war.”

The lessons she learned culminated into a concept known as “Soul Injury,” a wound that separates a person from their own sense of self. Deborah now provides presentations and workshops that can help anyone recover their loss of self-worth by healing the relationship that they have with themselves.

    Today she speaks about:

  • Roots & Resilience: Natural Healing Sanctuary for Women Warriors and Their Children
    2025/05/19

Warrior Gardens: Nurturing New Beginnings for Military Families

Welcome to "Roots & Resilience: A Natural Healing Sanctuary for Women Warriors and Their Children," a transformative initiative aiming to nurture strength and healing in the lives of female veterans and their children. Hosted by the compassionate team at It Takes A Village Ministry, our mission is to inspire, create, and sustain communities that empower individuals to heal naturally—body, mind, heart, and soul.

They Stood for Us. Stand for Them. Donate Now.

Female veterans bravely serve our nation, yet upon returning home, many face daunting challenges, especially when it comes to housing security and mental wellness. Did you know that approximately 30% of female veterans with children confront housing insecurity within just five years of leaving military service? They are also more than twice as likely as their male counterparts to experience homelessness alongside their children. This creates a troubling cycle of trauma and instability that impacts multiple generations.

Invest in Her Healing Journey: Every Dollar Creates Sanctuary

Our sanctuary focuses on vocational training and nature-based healing programs, as studies highlight their profound impact. An impressive 82% of veteran mothers participating in ecotherapy programs report a significant reduction in PTSD symptoms, compared to only 41% under traditional therapy. The need for family-centered healing approaches is critical since untreated PTSD in female veterans can increase the risk of anxiety disorders in their children by five times. Importantly, 92% of women in nature-based therapy programs achieve stable housing with their children after one year, a stark contrast to the 47% success rate of those receiving traditional interventions.

She Gave Everything. Will You Give Something?

Your support for this fundraiser will help us establish a sanctuary that offers a safe haven for these women and their families. Together, we can break the cycle of trauma and provide a nurturing environment where healing and empowerment can flourish. Join us in making a significant impact in the lives of these women warriors and their children, as we work collaboratively to create resilient and self-sustaining communities. Together, we can sow the seeds of recovery and resilience.

Invest in Her Healing Journey: Every Dollar Creates Sanctuary

Funds raised will be used for the purchase of a 16 acre waterfront property with buildings that will house 3-5 families and provide the headquarters for community programs($650,000), renovation costs($200,000), and operations for 3years($150,000).
