"As every year passed since my dad passed, she got stronger and stronger and stronger, and her resolve to be alive was clear. And her embracing of her limitations also has been part of that resilience for me, because she's definitely not the woman she was when my dad died. Her things are changing. Her body's changing, her hearing is changing. Circumstances have changed that might push someone else, you know, down. And she rises up and does life in her brand of life."

"This is not a typical tradition, and I don't even think you can categorize it as a tradition, but it's something that she ended up doing that we've adopted now and has slowly turned into a tradition in my family. I lost my mom when I was 16, so about 10 years ago. But one of the things I always remember about my mom is that she loved to celebrate any milestone, anything big or small. She just loved to celebrate."

"And we could play in our rooms, we could play in the backyard, even in our basement, we could play. But the living room was supposed to be kept clean for company. So that way you didn't have to get ready. You stayed ready, if you will. But also our presentation, going outside, you know, we wouldn't go outside in pajama pants. Never. We wouldn't go outside with hair rollers in our hair. Our mother would say the hair roller is to."

"If you're ever in California, you can pick up a Able Skeever pan in person in the town of Solvang. It's a really lovely place to visit. They've got a ton of wine tasting rooms and also a lot of traditional I believe it's Dutch, you know, delicacies, desserts, dinners, etc. You can order one online for sure, but if you're in the area, I would definitely recommend going to Solvang."

"Today, I stand tall because of her strength, her wisdom, her love. She is no longer with me physically, but her guidance, her courage, her soul. Live in everything I do. And I want to say louder, …. Maa!! you are my forever inspiration."

"You know, I don't think my mother really ever found out who she truly was, but I really do think that she wanted her children in her heart to know who they are and to stand up on it. But, you know, the laughter and just being able to understand everybody, no matter the situation, that's something I inherited from both my parents."

"And I feel, if I look at life, I feel pretty fortunate because homemaking is a. Is a noble profession. It's really gotten a lot a bad rap in the last 50 years. But what is more noble than caring for the next generation? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing's more noble than that because you're. You're shaping soul, you're shaping lives. I mean, Stalin knew that. Give me a handful of children and. And I can change the world."
