  • Hello, my name is Chaz Stephens and this is Missed Connections presented by Create Tulsa and The Tulsa Performing Arts Center. Missed Connections is a podcast that focuses on Tulsa and the amazing artists that call it home.

So join us for the next six episodes to meet the shakers in our city.

Each episode will feature artists from different mediums discussing topics surrounding how they got started, what obstacles they faced, and what resources they accessed

To get where they are today.

The mission of this podcast is all about introducing people to one another. The City of Tulsa is growing and there are some silent success stories we believe need a platform to introduce themselves and their talent to the world. Here at Missed Connections, we want to bring you episodes that focus on folks who haven’t met before but somehow are usually one a degree away from separation from each other.

We hope to bring artists, venues, and audiences together to tear down gates and build each other up for a better Tulsa

Since this is our first episode, I wanted to make sure I introduce myself as well.In Tulsa’s art scene, I’m better known as the multimedia artist ThunderWof. Born and raised in Tulsa, I have had the privilege of watching the growth of our beautiful city, so I wanted our first episode to be about “Appearance”.

Today's episode will feature two amazing guests. Kellen James a Tulsa native and recently became the new owner of Silhouette Sneakers and Art in the Historic Greenwood District. Kellen’s vision is for Silohuotte to be a space where local designers and artists can shop for cool outfits, sell their merchandise, and host events.

Our second guess is Corey Pearson, designer and founder of CMYLE clothing here in Tulsa. Corey has had great success at navigating as an artist with a thriving brand since 2021. Corey’s love of positive thinking and hard work mixed in with fun eye-catching graphics has made waves amongst Tulsans.

We’ll discuss, how designers and artists should approach local businesses, what resources are available and needed in their community, and of course who their best-dressed Tulsans are.

  • Episode Two: Let's Eat with Chefs Chad Cherry and Casey Tarochione

Today’s episode is titled Let's Eat!
When we talk about arts we tend to look towards visual, performance, and music but today we decided to focus on an art form that we all wish we could master, the Culinary arts. Cooking is a mixture of science, math, art, and of course love. Food brings people together at tables across the world and lately Tulsa has been making strides in the culinary with restaurants like Noches being a semifinalist for a James Beard award, to Trenchers being featured on Guy Fireri’s Bite Club, and a slew of other amazing restaurants making headlines around the world.

Tulsa has become a foodie haven.
Often times we think more about the food on our plate versus the hands and minds that craft masterpieces in the kitchens. So join me as speak to two of Tulsa’s culinary artists our first guest is probably our most recongizable, Chef Casey Tarochine is the master of the grill at one of Tulsa’s hottest hangouts Tina’s where smashburgers and cocktails reign supreme. Our second guest isnt a native Tulsan but has truly fallen in love with our city just as much as we have fallen in love with him. Chef Chad Cherry is the Co-Founder of Refresh Live & Chef Kulture and has been in the restaurant/ food service industry for almost twenty years. His journey in the culinary field began after he was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and spent a month in the hospital on what he calls an “unplanned vacation”. Chef learned, firsthand, the challenges of living with a disease and finding prepared meals that support healthier eating.
