A medical scan is supposed to tell a predictable story, especially with age, but sometimes the numbers come back with a surprise. A man sits in the back of the room fidgeting, hoping he will not be noticed, and you can feel the weight of what it costs for him to stand up. When he finally does, his words land with a kind of honesty you cannot manufacture. He shares how he had been trapped in addiction since his teenage years, moving through huffing, meth, cannabis, and heavier drugs, and how he walked into church and found instant freedom that has lasted for months.
