  • Speak Up: Becoming Your Own Best Advocate in the Face of Dismissal
    2025/08/01

In this powerful follow-up to last week’s conversation on advocacy, Mikey takes a deeper dive into one of the hardest — and most important — parts of navigating chronic illness and rare disease: learning how to advocate for yourself.

Whether you’ve been dismissed by a doctor, questioned by strangers online, or left second-guessing your own symptoms, this episode is for you. Mikey shares raw, personal experiences of being gaslit by medical professionals, invalidated online, and underestimated because of his age and diagnosis — and how he’s learned to take back control, speak up, and own his truth.

This isn’t just about standing your ground in a doctor’s office — it’s about reclaiming your story, setting boundaries, and knowing that your lived experience matters. Mikey offers honest insight into what self-advocacy really looks like, including practical tools for navigating appointments, dealing with trolls, protecting your peace, and bouncing back when the world makes you feel invisible.

If you've ever felt silenced, overwhelmed, or unheard — this episode will remind you that you're not alone, your voice is powerful, and you do deserve to be taken seriously.

This is a reminder that self-advocacy isn't selfish — it’s survival. And it starts with believing that you are worth fighting for.

  • Dating With A Disability: How Hard Could It Be?
    2025/07/04

Dating is already hard enough… now toss a disability into the mix. In this episode of Mikey’s House Podcast, I open up about what dating has looked like for me as a disabled person — the good, the bad, the awkward, and everything in between. From dating apps to first dates, vulnerability to rejection, I’m sharing my real experiences and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

We also break down the common misconceptions about dating someone with a disability — because spoiler alert: disabled people are just people, and yes, we want love too. I wrap up the episode by reflecting on my hopes for the future, the mindset shifts I’ve had to make, and why every single one of us deserves the love we want.

If you’ve ever dated, been rejected, felt discouraged, or doubted if love is for you — this one’s for you.

  • Summerween 2025: With Sami Serrano
    2025/06/27

Welcome back to Mikey’s House Podcast. In this special Summerween episode, I’m joined by my friend Sami Serrano, a queer singer-songwriter based in Austin, Texas, for a nostalgic and spooky-filled conversation that’s all about fun and memories.

Sami came dressed as a pink sprinkled donut, and I attempted (very poorly) to transform into an off-yellow version of Homer Simpson. The result? Pure chaos, laughter, and some genuinely eerie moments.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • What Halloween means to us
    • Our favorite candies and costumes
    • Nostalgic memories from childhood
    • Urban legends and creepy Reddit stories
    • Personal ghost encounters and stories of the deceased

This episode is spooky, funny, lighthearted, and absolutely not serious. It’s just two friends having fun and leaning into the Halloween spirit—even if it's the middle of summer.

Tune in, turn the lights down, and celebrate Summerween with us.

  • Welcome To My House!
    2025/06/07

Hey besties! This is the very first episode of Mikey’s House, and I’m so glad you’re here.

In today’s episode, we’re starting things off strong with an honest, cozy introduction. I’ll be sharing who I am, why I started this podcast, and what you can expect from this space moving forward. After documenting my life with a neurodegenerative disease online for the past few years, I wanted to create a safe, unfiltered, and welcoming place where we can talk about everything. No censors. No pressure. Just real conversation.

To kick things off, I asked you to send me questions—and wow, you delivered. We're playing a little game of “21 Questions” (okay... maybe more like 26) that go from light and funny to deep, emotional, and everything in between. Nothing was off limits—from dating with a diagnosis, to my favorite bands, alien conspiracies, the weirdest dream I’ve ever had, and how my perspective on love and life has shifted.

This episode is filled with laughter, reflection, and a lot of heart. Whether you’ve followed me for a while or you’re just tuning in, this is a perfect way to get to know me—and hopefully feel a little more seen in the process.

Stick around until the end for my favorite part: “The Leftovers”—a segment where we get a little serious and end on a note of hope.

Thanks for coming over. Welcome to my house.
