  • What If Guilt Is Just Discomfort In Disguise
    2026/10/26

Ever looked at your calendar, felt the exhaustion creeping in, and still heard yourself say, “Sure, I can do that”?

You knew you didn't have the time, energy, or desire. But the thought of disappointing someone felt worse than taking on one more responsibility. And now? You're overwhelmed, frustrated, and maybe even a little resentful.

    Sound familiar?

Here's the question: Did you actually do something wrong, or are you simply uncomfortable with someone not getting the answer they wanted?

In this episode of Midlife Revolution Unleashed, coaches Stacy and Wayne go beyond the familiar conversation about setting boundaries to explore something deeper: Why does saying no make us feel so guilty, even when we know it's the right decision?

We're unpacking the expectations, beliefs, and lifelong patterns that make disappointing someone feel like failing them. From family and cultural expectations to the pressure to be the dependable one, the fixer, the caregiver, or the person who always shows up, we're exploring how guilt can quietly take control of our choices.

In this conversation, we're digging into:

    • Why saying no can feel selfish, disrespectful, or disloyal.
    • The difference between genuine guilt, responsibility, and plain old discomfort.
    • How people-pleasing can leave us exhausted, resentful, and disconnected from what matters most.
    • Why someone else's disappointment doesn't automatically mean you've done something wrong.
    • Coaching questions to help you separate what's actually happening from the story you're telling yourself.
    • How to make decisions from your values instead of the pressure to keep everybody happy.

And because we believe insight should lead to action, we're introducing The 10-Minute Guilt Pause, a simple practice to help you check your desire, capacity, and the real cost of saying yes before making another commitment.

We're not challenging you to start saying no to everybody. We're challenging you to stop letting guilt make your decisions for you.

Here's a truth worth remembering: You can feel guilty without being guilty of doing something wrong.

So, what if guilt isn't always a stop sign? What if sometimes it's simply the feeling of doing something differently?

Join the conversation, try the 10-minute pause this week, and tell us what you discover. Then share this episode with someone who could use a little more freedom to make choices without carrying unnecessary guilt.

  • Everybody Has An Opinion But Not A Vote
    2026/10/19

When was the last time you made a big life decision without checking whether everyone approved first? We’ve both seen it again and again with midlife coaching clients and in our own lives: capable people second-guessing themselves, not because they lack wisdom, but because too many outside voices are holding the pen.

We dig into why approval feels safer, from fear of judgment to family legacy to cultural expectations that reward sacrifice and “keeping the peace.” We also call out the modern approval machine, where social media likes can start to feel like permission slips. Along the way, we name the hidden costs of permission seeking: postponed opportunities, dreams that get diluted, resentment that builds, and a drifting sense of identity when you’re living by someone else’s script.

Then we get practical. We share coaching questions to help you spot the pattern, challenge the assumption that everyone must agree, and separate authentic desires from expectations you’ve internalized over decades. We also offer a simple “do something” challenge: make one small decision without polling anyone first, then learn from the outcome. You can seek wisdom without surrendering authority because advice is information, not instruction.

If this resonates, subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, and leave a review. What’s one decision you’re ready to stop asking permission to make and start authoring for yourself?

  • Whose Rules Are You Living By
    2026/10/12

That moment when you’re about to make a decision and suddenly your mind fills up with opinions you didn’t invite: your parents, your old boss, church folks, culture, and even “younger you” in the corner keeping receipts. We know that moment well, and we’re naming it for what it is: inherited rules running your life on autopilot.

Coach Stacy M. Lewis and Coach Wayne dig into the midlife mindset shift that changes everything: separating what you consciously choose from what you merely inherited. We talk about the rules men absorb about toughness and emotion, the rules women carry about being judged and “what will people think,” and the guilt that can show up when you start updating beliefs you once respected. We also get practical with money stories and career scripts, because old messages about debt, security, and “stay at one job forever” can quietly shape your stress level and your options.

You’ll leave with a simple coaching framework you can use right away: identify the rule, trace where it came from, name what it protected back then, measure what it costs now, and rewrite it around your values and agency. If you’re ready to honor your roots without obeying every old expectation, press play.
