    Welcome to the Mental Health and Life Beyond Podcast!

    In today's episode, we had a wonderful talk with Amy Gabrielle. She grew up in New York. And had met the love of her life on G date when she was 40. A year after, they got married and had their first and only kid when she was 44. And then in 2018, her husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He started chemotherapy around October 2018. Everything was going wonderful until her husband decided to try a new clinical trial chemo in June of 2021 where he had a horrible reaction to the pill. Due to this he was rushed to the hospital and died a week later of heart failure.

  • Ep.005 | Navigating Grief and Loss: A Journey of Healing with Nathaniel Ward

    Hello and welcome to another episode of the Mental Health and Life Beyond podcast.

    In today’s episode, we had the privilege of sitting down with Nathaniel Ward. He is from Erie Pennsylvania and had the opportunity to move down to North Houston area. He has a wife named Kara and she was his best friend and soulmate. They did long distance relationship and got married right out of college in October of 2000. They had 4 children, the oldest is Eli which was born on 2001. Right after their moved to Houston, Kara found a lump in her breast which is diagnosed as breast cancer. They rang the bell on three separate occasions of winning their battle against cancer but it just continued to come back. It shows up in her breast tissue and then it eventually spread to the lungs and the liver and that's what took her life. They lost Kara on thanksgiving morning November 28th of 2019.

    In today's episode, we have the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Martha B. Koo, M.D., a psychiatrist based in Manhattan Beach, and the Founder & Medical Director at Neuro Wellness Spa. Our discussion will revolve around vital mental health topics, including depression, anxiety and medication treatment


    Dr. Koo completed her undergraduate studies at Princeton University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She went on to receive her medical training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where she earned membership to the AOA and Sigma Xi Society for academic excellence. Dr. Koo underwent her psychiatry residency training at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Institute at UCLA and her subsequent psychoanalytic training at the New Center for Psychoanalysis. She is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine and, in 2022, became certified in psychedelic assisted therapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Dr. Koo also serves as a research adherence rater for the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies.

    Today, we have the pleasure of talking with Nick Lee. He was born and raised in Miami and is a 40-year-old yoga teacher. Nick grew up with a strong foundation in athletics and discipline due to his father's influence. He competed in water polo and was on the US national team, but eventually retired from his sport after an injury. He then got into modeling and was introduced to the spiritual world through a friend he met while modeling. Yoga is now his path and he has been practicing it for 18 years.

    On this episode, we're excited to have Madeline Popelka as our guest. Madeline is a writer, trauma survivor, and mental health advocate. In February 2020, she founded @HealingFromPTSD, a community on Instagram for other trauma survivors, which has since become the largest of its kind. She is also the author of the book "You're Going to Be Okay."

    In this interview, we have the pleasure of talking with Emily Schneider and Jennifer Halper. We discuss in detail mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, relationship/family difficulties, trauma, and difficulties with self-esteem


    Emily is a New York State Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hunter College of the City University of New York and a Master of Arts in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in California. Emily takes a holistic approach to therapy and healing which means, she aims to incorporate several modalities to help a person meet the goals that brought them into therapy.


    Jennifer is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in Amherst, NY. She has experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and families as a whole. Her passion is helping people grow throughout the therapeutic process, to find the strength and resilience needed to get through a storm or simply a rainy day!
