📖 Looking Back at Jesus’ Love

John 13:31–35 — A New Commandment

📅 May 15–18, 2025

🕊️ Pastor Kyle Backhaus

“Life can only be understood backwards but must be lived forwards.” – Søren Kierkegaard

As we look back at the life of Jesus, especially at His final days with His disciples, we begin to understand the depth of His love. Imagine Him—on His knees, washing the feet of Judas, the very one who would betray Him. That is love.

Jesus gives us a new commandment: to love one another just as He has loved us. That means loving without expectation, loving with vulnerability, and loving those who are different from us. It’s a radical love that transforms hearts and communities.

🧼 3 Ways to Love Like Jesus Loved:

Love without expectation – His love had no strings attached.

Be vulnerable – True love risks being wounded.

Love those not like us – Just as Jesus loved the unseen and the outcast, so should we.

Come hear this powerful reminder that in Jesus’ command, we are both challenged and comforted: His love calls us to action, even as it holds us with mercy.
