• 5 Ways To Prepare for Marriage
    2026/09/10

How do you prepare for marriage before you meet your spouse or before you say "I do"?

In this episode of Marriage Sessions, Mike and Holly share five essential ways to prepare for a healthy, Christ-centered marriage. Because planning for marriage involves far more than preparing for a wedding it means allowing God to shape your character, heal your wounds, and teach you how to love faithfully.

Whether you're single, dating, engaged, or discerning a relationship, this conversation offers practical Christian dating advice and biblical wisdom for preparing yourself for marriage.

In this episode, you'll learn how to:

    • Heal childhood wounds and past relationship struggles before marriage
    • Build your identity in Christ instead of expecting a spouse to complete you
    • Develop a shared mission and vision under the lordship of Jesus
    • Prioritize godly character over chemistry when choosing a spouse
    • Practice honesty, purity, communication, conflict resolution, and covenant faithfulness now

Marriage is a beautiful gift, but it is not a requirement for spiritual maturity or personal completeness. Your deepest identity and value come from being a child of God. If you're wondering how to prepare for marriage, what to look for in a Christian spouse, or how to build a strong biblical relationship, this episode is for you.

  • When Past Pain Shows Up in Your Marriage (It Happened to Us This Week)
    2026/09/03
This past week, Holly had a hard moment, and we're being vulnerable and sharing what actually happened, how we worked through it, and what we're continuing to learn about loving each other well when past pain shows up in the present.

In this episode, we talk about what to do when you're the one being triggered, how to recognize when your reaction may be connected to something deeper, and why taking ownership of your response matters, even when the emotions you're experiencing are very real.

We also talk about the other side: how to support a spouse who has been triggered without becoming defensive, trying to force a conversation, or feeling responsible for fixing their pain.

In this episode we talk about:
    • How past trauma can show up in present-day marriage
    • What to do when you realize you've been triggered
    • Why naming what you're experiencing matters
    • How to get curious instead of defensive with your spouse
    • Creating safety when your spouse isn't ready to talk
    • Why your spouse can support your healing without becoming your healer
    • When it may be time to seek additional support
    • How difficult moments can become opportunities for deeper connection and growth
Our hope is that this conversation reminds you that a healthy marriage isn't a perfect marriage. You can learn to recognize unhealthy patterns, take ownership of what's yours, and love one another well even when old wounds surface.

    2026/08/27

Dating shouldn't end once you get married. In fact, dating your spouse may be one of the most important practices for building a strong, lasting marriage. Many marriages slowly drift as they become focused on managing schedules, raising children, paying bills, and keeping the household running. You don't need an elaborate date or a perfect season of life to reconnect. You simply need intentional time to keep learning your spouse, protecting your friendship, and pursuing one another's hearts.

Whether you're newly married, raising children, or working to reconnect after years together, we hope this conversation encourages you to make dating your spouse a consistent part of your marriage.

  • OUR LOVE STORY | High School Sweethearts, Long Distance & Marriage
    2026/08/20

Our love story started at a church youth summer camp in 2002 and the road from high school sweethearts to marriage was an important journey for us. From Mike taking three days to realize Holly had an identical twin, to our first date at McDonald's, protective parents, a breakup in small group, to Holly dating Mike's best friend, and then finding our way back to each other, long-distance dating, and eventually getting married at 20 and 21… there's a lot to this story. More than 20 years later, we've officially spent more of our lives together than apart.

Looking back, we can see how much God used those early years to grow us individually and ultimately redeem and restore our relationship. In this episode, we're sharing our full story: how we met, why we broke up, how we got back together, what it was like getting married young, and what we've learned about Christian dating, relationships, and marriage along the way.

One of the biggest lessons we've learned? It's not just about finding the right person, it's about becoming the right person. Whether you're dating, engaged, newly married, or decades into marriage, we hope our story encourages you to trust God with yours.

From the outside, our life looked successful, but behind closed doors, our marriage was falling apart. 2026/07/23

Every marriage brings together two people, but it also brings together two family histories.

In this episode of Marriage Sessions, Mike and Holly Worley share how childhood trauma, and generational patterns shape the way you show up in marriage. • The Real Reason Small Arguments Explode in Marriage
    2026/06/26

Why do some arguments seem to explode over something small?

In this episode of Marriage Sessions, we share why most marriage conflict isn't actually about the issue you're arguing over. More often than not, there's something deeper happening beneath the surface.

Using a personal story about a disagreement over a garage door left open, we unpack how old wounds, fears, and deeply rooted lies can shape our reactions and create conflict in marriage.

One of the most powerful lessons we've learned is that when we identify the lie underneath the argument, we stop fighting each other and start fighting the real problem together. Whether you're navigating frequent conflict or simply want to build a healthier marriage, this conversation will give you practical tools to communicate with greater understanding, grace, and connection.
