The Gospel of Mark Biblical Exposition series you are now listening to consists of sixteen chapters and is divided into four volumes. This first volume covers chapters one through four. The content is organized by topic and divided into three sections: Biblical Exposition, Question-and-Answer, and Sermon. Who do you believe Jesus to be? Through Mark chapters 1–4, this book testifies to the beginning of the gospel, the Lord’s authority to remit sins, and the ground of the heart that hears the Word. Through the baptism He received from John the Baptist, Jesus had all the sins of the world passed onto Him, bore the punishment for those sins in our place on the Cross, and rose from the dead and gave us eternal life. Whoever believes this gospel of the water and the Spirit receives the remission of all his sins at once and the Holy Spirit as a gift. Do not read this book merely to add to your knowledge. Examine what kind of ground your own heart is, and lay down your own righteousness and religious stubbornness. Receive the Word of life just as it is and enjoy true rest, and relying on the Lord even in the storms of life, bear the fruit of faith. ● Scripture quotations used in this book are from the ‘New King James Version (NKJV)’, ‘American Standard Version (ASV)’. ● This audiobook is an original human creation based on the sermons of Rev. Paul C. Jong. Dear readers, the Gospel of Mark opens its door proclaiming “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God”. Here we must first of all look back at who we believe Jesus to be. Do you know Jesus only as a great teacher or as One who heals the sick? Or do you believe in Him as the Son of God, who took upon Himself all your sins and accomplished perfect salvation? The gospel that the Gospel of Mark delivers is not a moving story about Jesus, but the power of God, by which a sinner receives the remission of sins and eternal life.

The Gospel of Mark is the shortest of the four Gospels of the New Testament, and yet the book with the quickest breath. The person who reads this Gospel feels a vividness, as though he were following the footsteps of Jesus breathlessly across the fields and along the lakeshore of Galilee. Yet the person who left this powerful and concise Gospel in our hands was, surprisingly, not one of the twelve apostles. The long tradition of the early church uniformly points to a young man called ‘John Mark’ as the author of this Gospel. He did not belong to the band of Jesus’ immediate disciples, but he was a man who, at the side of the Apostle Peter, heard his preaching and faithfully wrote down that testimony. In this first question we look at who the author of this book is, and why the early church acknowledged him as the author so unwaveringly.

    2026/09/04

Mark chapter 1 proclaims “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God” (Mark 1:1), and it is the chapter that shows how the public ministry of Jesus began. First, John the Baptist appears in the wilderness, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins and preparing the way of the Lord. He testifies that One mightier than he is coming, and that this One will baptize with the Holy Spirit. Jesus comes from Nazareth of Galilee and is baptized by John the Baptist. When He comes up from the water, the heavens are parted and the Spirit descends on Him like a dove, and a voice from heaven declares that Jesus is the beloved Son of God. Then the Holy Spirit leads Jesus into the wilderness, and Jesus is tempted by Satan for forty days.
