  • The Seven "A's" Of Superaging
    2025/09/10
    The 7 "A's" of Super-Aging
These seven A’s are the key to making your golden years the best ones of your life:
    1. Attitude - Having a positive outlook and a concrete vision of the future is essential.
    2. Awareness - Staying aware can be tough in the 24/7 news cycle, but keeping up with the latest treatments, products and services that can help health challenges, and knowing which sources you can really trust.
    3. Activity - Exercising the body and the mind is crucial .
    4. Autonomy - Maintain your physical independence, like staying in your home and being in charge of your finances for as long as possible.
    5. Accomplishment - Achievements don’t have to stop just because you’re getting older. Having goals and working to reach them is important at any age.
    6. Attachment - Loneliness and social isolation negatively impact health and lifespan, so maintaining relationships and forming new ones is essential.
    7. Avoidance - Knowing how to minimize risks from fraud, scams, and ageism in the marketplace is a skill superagers have perfected.⠀

    Daydreaming Is Good For You
Sometimes your mind just wanders into a daydream state… let it. Daydreaming uses your best core memories and helps make space for new ones in the process, according to experts. They agree that at its best daydreaming is healthy for body and mind. Therapist Saba Lurie says there are two types of daydreaming:
    • The productive kind that reduces stress, boosts creativity, and helps you problem solve
    • Unproductive daydreaming builds stress and anxiety, and makes you think negatively because you’re focusing on past mistakes
Lurie suggests that you daydream to your heart's content but keep it positive.

Mistakes We Make At Warehouse Clubs
    • Buying too many perishables: That massive bag of avocados or 10-pound tub of strawberries might seem like a great deal, but if you can’t eat them before they spoil, it’s money wasted.
    • Assuming all your shopping should be done there: Warehouse clubs don’t always have the lowest price Price-comparison apps are your best friend here.
    • Letting the giant carts trick you: Those carts are huge for a reason: they practically beg you to fill them.
    • Getting lured by hot dogs and free samples: Sure, a $1.50 hot dog or a round of tasty samples feels like harmless fun. But once you’re inside, you’re more likely to justify other purchases you didn’t plan on making.
    • Ignoring warehouse club apps: Each warehouse club has its own app, and they often feature exclusive discounts, flash sales, or hidden deals not advertised in-store.
    • Skipping the gift card section: Clubs often sell discounted gift cards for restaurants, movies, or retailers. That’s basically free money if you’re going to spend it anyway. Snagging a $100 card for $80 is an effortless win.
    • Forgetting about extra perks: Clubs often offer cheaper gas, prescription savings, insurance discounts, travel deals, and even theme park tickets.
    • Not taking advantage of the return policy: Warehouse clubs have some of the most generous return policies around. Sometimes they even refund memberships if you’re unhappy.

  • Here Are Some Things You Can Do To Seem Smarter
    2025/09/09
The Key To Confidence Is DIY
A new survey finds those who’ve finished DIY projects around the house say it boosts their confidence, happiness and satisfaction.
    • For 86%, completing a home-related DIY task makes them feel accomplished and that feeling sticks around for six weeks afterward.
    • Seeing a friend succeed with a tricky household job gives 63% of those polled the guts to give a harder project a try.
    • But people know their limits and are afraid to take on intimidating DIY projects like installing flooring or carpeting (41%), caulking or sealing a tub (41%), repairing drywall (38%) or projects done by interior design pros (28%).That doesn’t stop the average person from hoping to finish three DIY projects by the end of the year, and an ambitious 20% hope to complete at least five.

Things Your Party Guests Are Judging You On
    • Relying on store-bought desserts
    • Not communicating key details - Make sure guests feel prepared and comfortable.
    • Waiting for guests to ask for refills - They may not want to “bother” the host, so they’ll wait with an empty wine or water glass, and that can be frustrating.
    • Avoiding the topic of dietary restrictions - Ask your guests about dietary restrictions so your menu includes options everyone can enjoy.
    • Overserving light bites - Appetizers should help tide guests over, but they’re not a replacement for the main course.
    • Turning dinner into a cooking show - Don’t wait until your guests arrive to start cooking. Get as much done ahead of time .
    • Requesting shoes off without offering alternatives - It’s fine to ask guests to take their shoes off, but don’t leave them barefoot, which can make them feel awkward. Follow Martha Stewart’s lead and have a basket of washable slippers or cozy socks .
    • Forgetting the farewell - People don’t always know when it’s time to go, so you can announce a “last call” or try Martha’s method. To kick guests out, she explains, “I just say, ‘I’m going to bed, I’ll see you.’”
