  • Ep. 147: "True Love Spell" | Song-i-Sode #14
    2026/03/06

In the first Song-i-sode of Season 4, we are so excited to debut yet another song for ya! This next installation of our SONG-i-SODE series is Session #14, with our Practical Magic-inspired original song "True Love Spell"!

This song is all about Little Sally's take on love after seeing her Aunts stick a bird with pins to help "No Chill Irene" win the affections of a married man. The Stinas also sneak peek Gillian's Antithesis song about how she "Can't wait to fall in love!"

As per Song-i-Sode tradition, The Stinas revisit their notes & lyrics and chat about how they wrote this song! They dissect their original work verse by verse, draft by draft, and take you on the creative journey of how they wrote the song from start to finish. We'll also explore original versions of the song, scratch demos, and lyrics that just didn't make the cut. Then sit back and relax as the Stinas debut their latest demo for this song!

If you love our Practical Magic-Inspired Original Music, download our debut EP Welcome to the Neighborhood | The Magnolia Street Sessions: Volume 1 over on our bandcamp, or stream right here on Spotify!

  • Ep. 146: Molasses Magick | "Just to Get Your Legs to Open Up"
    2026/02/27

This week, we’re talking about molasses, “just to get your legs to open up," according to Aunt Franny. What starts as a throwaway line over tequila at the Owens’ dining room table opens into something much richer: slow magic, guarded hearts, and why love in Practical Magic is never meant to be rushed.

From Alice Hoffman’s books to folk magic, foodways, science, and molasses’s darker history, we follow this sticky ingredient from kitchen tables to spell jars to Boston’s streets. Sweet, binding, complicated, and anything but innocent—molasses has a lot more to say than you might expect.

  • Ep. 145: The Winter Triangle
    2026/02/20

This week, we turn our gaze upward to the Winter Triangle—three stars, one fleeting pattern, and a single, quiet mention in The Book of Magic that carries far more weight than it first appears.

Appearing at the height of winter and fading predictably by season’s end, the Winter Triangle becomes a lens for understanding February as a time of purification, inner dedication, and subtle awakening. We unpack the science behind the stars, why Hoffman chose a pattern that disappears on schedule, and how grief, winter magic, Imbolc, Candlemas, Celtic winter goddesses, and Pisces season all point to the same truth: some transitions are orderly, inevitable, and deeply human. This episode isn’t about finding comfort in the sky—it’s about recognizing when a season has already begun to change, whether we feel ready or not.
