On the night of November 22, 1987, television viewers across Chicago witnessed something that shouldn't have been possible.

During two separate broadcasts, an unknown person wearing a Max Headroom mask suddenly hijacked local television signals and appeared on screen, delivering a bizarre stream of nonsense, strange jokes, and unsettling behavior before disappearing just as quickly as they arrived.

In the early morning hours of February 14, 2000, nine-year-old Asha Degree disappeared from her home in Shelby, North Carolina.

Witnesses reported seeing a young girl walking alone along Highway 18 in the middle of a storm. Days later, searchers found possible traces of her. Months later, her backpack surfaced buried miles away. And for years, the case seemed frozen in time.

But more than two decades later, investigators announced new evidence, new searches, and a direction nobody expected.
