For decades, some residents of Taos, New Mexico have reported hearing a strange, low-frequency hum that seems to come from nowhere.

Some describe it as a distant diesel engine. Others hear a vibration or mechanical drone that refuses to disappear. But while certain people hear it constantly, others standing right beside them hear absolutely nothing.
