  • The Dangers of a Spiritual Path without Psychological Grounding
    2026/07/02
What happens when spirituality is psychologically ungrounded?Today I share the real dangers that I’ve seen when this is the case, and how we can avoid this with a true psycho-spiritual approach. The importance of grounded psychological work for those who lean in a more spiritual direction cannot be overstated.Psycho-spiritual integration is KEY…The spiritual ego these days is quite strong collectively, where many people who lean that way reject therapy outright, and the more grounded psychological work. What they don’t realize is that this is what they often need the MOST.I’ve seen multiple spiritual teachers directly guiding their students to reject therapy. This is straight up harmful and often has very dangerous consequences when the person is mentally unwell or has a lot of unhealed trauma. In a perfect world, we’d have practitioners helping people who are offering a more holistic, integrated, psycho-spiritual approach so that our clients wouldn’t have to piece together a whole team of people. We’re not there yet, so many times this has to be the case, where we support ourselves on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level with various support people. If you’ve done years of spiritual work and haven’t ever delved into grounded psychological support, even traditional therapy, now may be the time to get real and do some work. It won’t feel sexy and a huge amount of ego resistance may be present. For others, it’s the opposite - they’ve done years of traditional therapy, and now it’s time to open up spiritually. For the practitioners, for those called to be of most service to their community, it’s always beneficial to self-assess. Where are our blind spots, and where may we be called to become more holistic? For me, I started out practicing more traditional psychology and then weaved in spirituality. I’ve been deeply spiritual in my personal life from childhood and so this wasn’t a stretch, but I did have to blast through conditioned training around scope of practice and a system that often teaches therapists to avoid spirituality altogether. For primarily spiritual teachers, it could be SO useful to get some training in a more grounded psychological approach. I really do think that a psycho-spiritual framework is where we are being asked to go regardless of what side of the coin we’re on, and it’s actually a return to true psychology, as the word “psyche” originally means “soul.” Unfortunately, the field was stripped and sanitized of the spiritual side of things.I know that not every practitioner wants to be more integrated, and that’s fine. If practitioners want to stay in a more spiritual lane, for example, they ideally should be honest with their community that what they provide is not therapy, and isn’t a replacement for grounded, foundational work with a mental health professional. The best spiritual teachers or coaches make this clear in the language on their website or within their explicit teachings.Teachers or coaches who do not are a real red flag, in my opinion. They don’t know their own limits and often have rejected therapy in their own lives, and so truly believe that a one sided approach works. It can be helpful to find out the background of the practitioners you’re considering working with to see what types of inner work they’ve done. I always try to be transparent with my community, because it matters.Unfortunately, spiritual teachers who are taking on clients who are mentally unwell and psychologically ungrounded are perpetuating this problem, and some of them even tell their clients to reject therapy. It’s not a stretch to say that this won’t end well in most of the cases, and it’s really sad to see cases of people who have taken their own lives or the lives of others because the practitioner was blind to the fact that psychological support is absolutely warranted for many, many people.I would love to hear your thoughts about this conversation.Watch the video of this episode on YouTube.Link to a prior video I recorded on this topic:Are You Too Spiritually Advanced?—About Me:My name is Leigh-Anne LoPinto, and my mission is to help co-create the new paradigm of relationships. • What I Wish More Couples Knew...
    2026/06/24

The one thing I wish more couples understood is that arguments don’t come out of nowhere, and it’s rarely one person’s “fault.”

A relationship by definition is two people coming together and creating the dynamic.

We bring our baggage, our triggers, our unhealed wounds in relationships, and all of the stuff running in the background that shapes how we show up with other people.

The number one thing that I have seen that diffuses most conflicts right off the bat is when both people in the relationship understand this idea of co-creation, which is what I call it, and when each person is able to take personal responsibility for their side of the street.

This takes self awareness and also humbleness, to know that there is always something that you’re contributing to the dynamic that can be looked at and improved upon, especially when it comes to conflict.

I am not talking about abusive relationships here, that is a much deeper topic and I work 1:1 with people who have those patterns so that they can heal.

In my work, I talk a lot about the new paradigm of relationships - and this simply means bringing a greater level of awareness to how we show up in relationships so that we are not repeating the same mistakes that our parents made, or even that we’ve made in our past!

Most people these days are becoming aware of things like relationship patterns, how our upbringing shapes the partners we attract, and why these things are so important! Huge keys for inner work become available when we start to get curious about our side of the street.

So the first thing that can take you far if you’re in a relationship with someone is to take some time to reflect on the things that you butt heads about. Are there patterns on what you fight about? What triggers you the most in this relationship?

And also, zoom out beyond that specific relationship and ask yourself what types of partners and people you tend to attract. What are the patterns that keep coming up in your relationships?

These are the doorways into starting to work with relationships in a much more evolutionary way, where you can actually start to use relationships as a vehicle to heal, and to grow.

Again, it can save you a lot of time and confusion to work with a professional who does this exact work.

This is the work that I do with people 1:1 and it’s very powerful. This is the work that will change the whole game.

And when both people know this and become aware of how it’s usually less about pointing the finger at how bad the other person is, and more about taking ownership of what’s coming up for you so that you can grow from it, the relationship changes from blaming and shaming the other person to truly working together as partners to make things better.

  • Teaching About Victim Mentality Triggers Most People
    2026/06/13

Victim mentality is something we should all have compassion for, as it’s the way most of us are programmed from the start.

Victim mentality is “poor me” thinking, feeling like life is against you. It’s a passive, disempowered state where one lacks agency and personal responsibility.

Often, when we are stuck in victim mentality, life doesn’t feel good at all. We are stuck in a state of disappointment, depression, frustration, and often misery.

We can feel disconnected from our power and even life force energy.

I was in victim mentality for years and have a ton of compassion for those who are in it. I was forced to break free in 2016 with my most intense dark night of the soul.

In this episode, I speak about how to break out of victim mentality in a way such that we don’t lose our self-compassion (or compassion for others).

Personal responsibility is something we learn to step into adulthood, and this teaching should not be applied to children.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this one, as this teaching can trigger a lot of people! I wouldn’t go there if I didn’t truly believe that it is one of the most important lessons I’ve learned in my almost 50 years here.
