Louisville Metro Police are locking down access to their Flock license plate reader cameras after a string of misuse scandals, including stalking an ex-partner and unauthorized immigration searches. Now only investigators can access the data, with new training and strict oversight. Outside agencies must request data formally, and heat maps require approval. While still vital for crime fighting and recovery efforts, the department is tightening controls — even in emergencies, officers need Real-time Crime Center clearance.

LongHorn Steakhouse is set to open its fifth Louisville location on Dixie Highway — replacing the old Frisch’s Big Boy — with construction already underway and a projected opening between Winter 2026 and Spring 2027. The $1.5 million, 5,780-square-foot restaurant received a $173K city grant as part of a broader effort to revitalize the corridor, which has also welcomed spots like Crumbl Cookies and Freddy’s. Councilman Jonathan Joseph sees the development as a positive sign for neighborhood energy and economic growth. Derek Engineering is handling permits, and while no contractor is yet named, this new steakhouse promises bold flavors and another reason to gather in the South End.

A Louisville church, Pure in Heart Baptist, suffered a shocking theft when its entire air conditioning unit vanished between August 30 and the following Saturday—leaving congregants to worship in sweltering heat. Despite the setback, they’re refusing to be defeated, staying committed to their faith and mission. They’re turning to insurance and enhanced security to recover and prevent future incidents, while also highlighting how even places of worship can become targets for crime.
