"The wages of cinema is death."

A movie podcast where theology meets banter.

In each episode, we discuss a film that we love (or love to hate). We explore it through a series of prompts, like "Who would you pray for in this movie?" or "Would this movie be better with Kirk Cameron?"

It's part movie review, part spiritual reflection. All good times.

  • 36. Pride & Prejudice by Joe Wright
    2026/08/26

Ahhh, to be a young lass in 19th century England again, right ladies?

This week, the LFOC gang step back in time to the whimsical land of Jane Austen as we explore the best (maybe? Don't come after us, BBC stans) depiction of her magnum opus, Pride and Prejudice.

This truly is the quintessential film that women show their boyfriends/husbands, promising them that it will be good if they just give it a chance, and two hours and seven minutes later are proven correct.

But you know us, we're here to ask the real questions: Is Lydia so unlikeable because she has a Jezebel spirit? Is Rupert Friend a good friend in real life? And how can we possibly trace the notes of the Gospel in a movie with no explosions???

    Thanks for listening!

    2026/08/12

Let’s talk bees. Let’s talk Queen Latifah and Alicia Keys. Let’s talk the omnipresence of 2000s Dakota Fanning.

We are joined this week by our friends and special guests Caleb & Meredith Amadee-Jackson.

We’ll dive into 1960s South Carolina and talk the Jim Crow south, the process of cleaning up honey, and screen printed t-shirts.

    Thanks for being here!

  • 34. The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan
    2026/07/22

“Wow, what a phenomenal movie. My heart is full of optimism about what the superhero genre is yet to become.”

    — Jarrad McDaniel, 2008, probably.

The Dark Knight was a fun time because it wasn’t a movie for movie fans. It was a movie for people who like living.

“Do you enjoy joy, good sir? Allow me to introduce you to Christopher Nolan’s finest work.”

It’s honestly hard to say something new about a film like this. But darn it if we aren’t gonna try anyways.

Is the Joker really a symbol of the Antichrist? What are Batman’s spiritual gifts? What’s the deal with that scene in Hong Kong?

We’ll discuss these and so much more.
