Clemson beat Cal 24-10, and the biggest takeaway may be that the Tigers finally understand how they need to win football games.
Morgan Thomas breaks down Clemson’s 255-yard rushing performance, Gideon Davidson’s 159-yard, two-touchdown night, and the role Tait Reynolds plays in Clemson’s new run-first approach.
The defense may have been even more impressive. Clemson held Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele to just 119 passing yards, intercepted him twice, and did not allow an offensive touchdown. Bryant Wesco Jr. also delivered the game-changing 65-yard punt-return touchdown.
But there are still questions at quarterback. Tait Reynolds has traits worth developing, especially his athleticism and ability to keep his eyes downfield, but his accuracy remains inconsistent and it is too early to call him Clemson’s long-term answer.
Clemson may not be fixed, but for the first time this season, the Tigers look coherent.

Tait Reynolds has made Clemson’s offense better, but has he done enough to prove he should be the Tigers’ long-term answer at quarterback?

Morgan Thomas breaks down what he likes about Reynolds, including his athleticism, toughness, pocket movement and ability to keep his eyes downfield when plays break down. But the passing production remains a major question. Reynolds has just one passing touchdown through 83 attempts, and inconsistent accuracy continues to show up on throws that should become routine.

The bigger question is what Clemson does next. If the Tigers find a way to win seven or eight games behind Gideon Davidson, strong defense and Reynolds’ running ability, should Dabo Swinney simply hand the quarterback job back to Reynolds next season?

Morgan explains why Clemson should continue developing Tait while still bringing legitimate competition into the quarterback room, including through the transfer portal if an upgrade is available.

The question going forward is simple: Is Clemson winning because of Tait Reynolds, or winning with Tait Reynolds?

Miami is about to test everything Clemson thinks it fixed.

Morgan Thomas previews Clemson vs. Miami by breaking down why Darian Mensah, Malachi Toney and Mark Fletcher Jr. present a completely different challenge than what Clemson faced against Cal.

The Hurricanes also have several under-the-radar players who could change the game. Cooper Barkate already has chemistry with Mensah, while Marquise Lightfoot could create major problems for a Clemson offense built around staying ahead of the chains and feeding Gideon Davidson.

Then the focus turns back to Clemson. Tait Reynolds cannot afford another 108-yard passing performance if Miami takes away the run. Bryant Wesco Jr. needs to finally become the explosive receiving weapon Clemson expected, and Will Heldt must help Clemson generate pressure without forcing Tom Allen to constantly blitz.

Cal showed Clemson how it wants to win. Miami will tell us whether that formula actually works against a much better opponent.
