    The Miami Hurricanes have just FLIPPED defensive tackle Donta Simpson from his commitment to the Maryland Terrapins. Simpson verbally commits to The U after receiving an offer over the weekend. He grew up a Miami fan and didn’t waste more than five days before offering his verbal pledge. Simpson is a twitchy, explosive playmaker from the interior defensive line. He recorded 19.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks last season as a high school junior at Chaminade-Madonna. He even had a pick six last year.

    Host Alex Donno reacts to the Simpson commitment and discusses where Miami now ranks for the Class of 2025. The Hurricanes have jumped a spot ahead of Oklahoma for the 9th rated class according to 247 Sports. Simpson is Miami’s first defensive tackle commit of the cycle.     Miami Hurricanes offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson made headlines on Tuesday when he said Miami’s offense is “not anywhere close to where it needs to be.” Dawson also noted that they are only five practices in, but his disclaimer didn’t stop trolls and aggregators from taking his comments out of context in order to portray Miami’s offense as “lost.” Dawson was using his high standards of where he wants Miami’s offense to be, and what it will take to get them there. Head coach Mario Cristobal has transformed his roster with a combination of top ten recruiting classes and top fifteen Transfer Portal classes. The Hurricanes are about to open training camp led by highly touted transfer quarterback Cam Ward. Ward was top ten in passing last season at Washington State with 3,735 yards and 25 touchdowns.

    The Miami Hurricanes have just wrapped up their second practice of fall training camp. The Hurricanes are getting ready to face the Florida Gators in Gainesville on August 31st. Defensive backs took center stage today with interception drills, and they also made some good plays in 7 on 7. Sophomore cornerback Damari Brown is showing excellent physical development and has good hands in interception drills. He did well in coverage today against Miami’s star receiver, Xavier Restrepo.

    Host Alex Donno recaps what he saw today in the second practice. Donno notes that the competition between Samson Okunlola and Matt McCoy is continuing for the starting left guard job. They will both get ample opportunity to compete before one of them lines up on August 31st. Donno notes continued progress from true freshman quarterback Judd Anderson. Miami will enjoy Friday off but will practice again on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday’s practice, CanesFest at Hard Rock Stadium, will be open to fans.
