  • The Enemy Knows Scripture Too: How to Stand Firm Against Spiritual Attacks
    2026/07/24

What if the greatest battle you're fighting isn't physical—but spiritual?

In this episode of Living Radiance, on 12/30/2025, LaCole explores how Satan tempted Jesus using Scripture itself and what that teaches us about the importance of knowing God's Word for ourselves. Through passages from Luke 4, John 14, 1 Peter 5, and Ephesians 4, this conversation unpacks how fear, pride, anxiety, and distraction can quietly pull us away from God's purpose.

The central message is about resisting temptation, recognizing spiritual attacks, humbling yourself before God, overcoming fear and anxiety through Scripture, and cultivating daily spiritual habits that lead to lasting peace.

    You'll discover:

    • Why the enemy often twists Scripture to create confusion
    • How to recognize spiritual attacks in everyday life
    • The difference between God's peace and the world's temporary comforts
    • Why humility is the foundation for growth, healthy relationships, and answered prayers
    • Practical ways to strengthen your spiritual health and your relationships through daily habits, prayer, and Bible study
    • How fear, pride, and anxiety keep us from experiencing the life God intends
    • Being better partners which leads to better parenting
    • Valuing the roles parents have on the development of their children
    • Book: “The DNA of Relationships” by Dr. Gary Smalley
    • If you’re not good at taking care of yourself then you’re not doing the best you can for your own health nor your best for others

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or spiritually drained, this episode is a reminder that God has already equipped you with the armor you need. True peace isn't found in the world's distractions—it's found in walking daily with Christ.

    Scriptures Covered:

    • Luke 4:1–12
    • Luke 8:15
    • John 14:27
    • 1 Peter 5:6–10
    • Ephesians 4:2

  • You Say You Believe in God… But Do You Actually Know Him?
    2026/07/16

You say you believe in God—but have you actually taken the time to know Him for yourself? 👀

Too many people build their beliefs around what a pastor said, what their family taught them, what they saw in a short clip, or what the world says about God… without ever opening the Bible for themselves.

In this episode of Living Radiance, on July 14,2026, we dive into Proverbs 14, the pursuit of wisdom, accountability, repentance, purpose, good works, and what it truly means to LIVE your faith—not just claim it.

📖 Stop letting the world tell you who God is. 🔥 Read His Word for yourself. 🙏🏽 Seek wisdom. 💡 Know what you believe—and why you believe it.

The Bible is accessible. The wisdom is there. The question is: Are you willing to read it?

    Key Takeaways

    • LaCole emphasized that lack of Bible reading leads to moral confusion, susceptibility to false prophets, and spiritual weakness
    • Wealth was reframed beyond money to include health, wisdom, and good works.
    • LaCole discussed a recurring theme from conversations she had during the week — people expressing confusion about faith, false prophets, and morality, yet none of them had personally read the Bible.
    • Personal Bible reading is foundational to a genuine relationship with God.
    • Relying solely on secondhand religious instruction, short media clips, or cultural assumptions about faith is insufficient.
    • The Bible is free and widely accessible; lack of access is not a valid barrier.
    • Black History, Education, and the Responsibility to Read
    • The ability to read is a hard-won privilege that should not be taken for granted.
    • Choosing not to read, especially the Bible, is a failure to honor both historical sacrifice and God's provision.
    • Performative vs. Genuine Faith
    • True godliness is measured by lifestyle, not church attendance or self-proclamation.
    • Believers are called to love all people, pray for enemies, and do good works consistently — not selectively.

    Action Items

    • Begin or continue a daily practice of reading one chapter of Psalms and one chapter of Proverbs corresponding to the calendar date.
    • Personally read and study the Bible rather than relying solely on secondhand teaching or media clips.
    • Reflect on whether personal faith is genuinely lived out or performative, and make adjustments accordingly.

  • Forgiveness Isn’t for Them—It’s for You: The Inner Work That Sets You Free
    2026/07/14

    Key Outcomes

The session recorded on July 7, 2026 centered on forgiveness, inner work, and holistic self-care across five pillars: spiritual, financial, mental/emotional, physical, and social health. LaCole led scripture-based discussion on releasing grudges, living by the Holy Spirit's fruits, and aligning actions with biblical principles rather than feelings. Participants shared personal reflections on caregiving, physical health recovery, and church community.

    Decisions Made

    • Forgiveness is self-directed: Releasing grudges benefits the forgiver, not the offender — it breaks cycles of anger, envy, and anxiety.
    • Feelings vs. Facts: Emotions are temporary and cannot change reality; action, legality, and covenant do.
    • Marriage vs. Partnership: Girlfriend/boyfriend relationships do not carry the same privileges or rights as a legally and spiritually covenanted marriage.
    • Inner work is non-negotiable: Self-accountability, not blame or distraction, is the path to genuine growth.

    Key Themes Covered

    • Mark 11:25 — Forgive before praying for yourself; grudges block receiving God's forgiveness.
    • Matthew 5:44 — Commanded to love and pray for enemies, not just those who treat us well.
    • Psalm 51:9–13 — Stop replaying past mistakes; seek a renewed, clean spirit.
    • Galatians 5:16–26 — Sinful nature vs. Holy Spirit fruits: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
    • Philippians 4:6–7 — Pray about everything, not just desires; God's peace surpasses understanding.

Five Pillars of Health — Maintenance Points

    • Spiritual: Daily prayer, scripture reading, treating others as you wish to be treated.
    • Financial: Consistent debt payoff; build savings before lifestyle upgrades.
    • Mental/Emotional: Do inner work to address root causes; avoid using distractions as band-aids over deep wounds.
    • Physical: Bodies are God's temple — neglecting them limits capacity to serve others.
    • Social: Learn communication skills; understand the distinct commitments of marriage vs. dating.

    Open Questions / Ongoing Challenges

    • How to respond to family members who weaponize past mistakes rather than acknowledging personal growth.
    • Overcoming analysis paralysis — waiting to understand everything before acting prevents learning through experience.
    • Praying for church leaders and younger ministers to be identified and groomed within local congregations.

    Action Items

    • All participants: Build and maintain a prayer list that includes people who come to mind unprompted; check in on them.
    • All participants: Daily self-assessment against the fruits of the Spirit as a personal health check.

You can always improve yourself and your situation. Walk in faith and move in purpose with love.

  • Why Men Cheat: The Truth About Mental Health, Respect & Relationships
    2026/07/12

Why do men cheat? Is it really just about sex... or is there something deeper?

This conversation might challenge what you've always believed.

In this episode of Living Radiance, John joins me for an honest discussion about men's mental health, communication, respect, relationships, and the emotional struggles many men never talk about.

We also share real-life stories, discuss how society shapes boys into men, and explore what it takes to build healthier relationships.

💬 Do you think cheating is a choice, a symptom of deeper issues, or both?

Drop your thoughts in the comments—and don't forget to share this episode with someone who needs to hear it.

    🎧 Listen now! #LivingRadiance #MensMentalHealth #Relationships #Communication #Healing #Growth #Podcast #SelfReflection #FaithAndRelationships

The conversation began with LaCole sharing an unexpected setback: her housing application was denied just hours before her scheduled move-in. While frustrating, the group believed the rejection may have been protection after uncovering several red flags about the property. They also shared practical apartment-hunting tips, including visiting properties during busy evening hours and never touring alone.

The recorded discussion on June 30, 2026 then shifted to Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, where LaCole and special guest John explored the deeper issues behind cheating, broken relationships, and the emotional struggles many men face. Rather than excusing infidelity, they emphasized the importance of understanding its root causes so healthier relationships can be built.

Together, they discussed how boys are often conditioned from childhood to view being a "player" as a badge of honor, while peer pressure, social media, and unhealthy cultural messages reinforce destructive relationship habits. They contrasted these influences with biblical principles that encourage love, integrity, and commitment.

John shared his perspective on the most common unmet needs that can contribute to infidelity: sex, respect, love, and communication, identifying communication as the most preventable cause of relationship breakdown. The conversation stressed that cheating is always a choice, but unresolved emotional and relational needs should be addressed before they become larger problems.

Real-life stories brought the discussion to life, including a young man who transformed his life for a relationship only to be unexpectedly abandoned, and another story about confession, forgiveness, and the difficult road toward rebuilding trust after infidelity.

The episode also examined the mental health challenges many men experience.

The group discussed how shame, societal expectations, and the pressure to appear strong often prevent men from seeking help. They emphasized the importance of trusted mentors, honest conversations, accountability, and faith-based communities where men can find genuine support and healing.

Ultimately, this episode is a candid conversation about relationships, emotional health, accountability, and the importance of creating safe spaces where both men and women can better understand one another. Whether you're single, dating, or married, the discussion offers practical insights into healthier communication, stronger relationships, and personal growth.

You can always improve yourself and your situation. Walk in faith and move in purpose with love.

  • A True Investor
    2026/07/07

On March 3, 2026, LaCole shares an introduction to improving one's financial education and basics to becoming a true investor. There are set mindsets that separate the poor and the rich. Listen carefully and take notes to learn how to set yourself up for building wealth. Stop looking for quick fixes and become a better steward of what you have.

    • Colossians 3:1-10 NLT
    • Ephesians 6:13-19 NLT
    • 1 Corinthians 10:31-33 NLT
    • Book: Rich Dad’s Cashflow Quadrant: Guide to Financial Freedom by: Robert T. Kiyosaki
    • Poor people often say, “Investing is risky.”
    • Rich people often say, “Being financially uneducated is risky.”
    • Lacking financial education, experience, and guidance makes investing risky
    • Investing is the key to financial freedom.
    • Five things happen to people who do not invest, or who invest poorly:
      • They work hard all their lives.
      • They worry about money all their lives.
      • They depend on others, such as family, a company pension, or the government, to take care of them.
      • The boundaries of their lives are defined by money.
      • They will not know what true freedom is.
    • Most people learn how to work for money. You have financial freedom when you have money working for you
    • “The more money you have working for you, the less you pay in taxes — if you are a true investor”
    • According to Robert Kiyosaki, 401(K) plans are possibly the worst ways to plan for retirement because:
      • TIME magazine has been predicting that millions will not have enough money to retire after a lifetime of turning their money over to strangers
      • A typical 401(K) plan takes 80% of the profits and the investor may get 20% if they are lucky.
        • The investor puts up 100% of the money and takes 100% of the risk so the 401(K) company makes money, even if you as the investor loses money
      • Taxes work against you with a 401(K) plan at a income-tax rate of around 35%
      • If you take the money out early, then you’ll have to pay an additional 10% penalty tax
      • You have no insurance if there is a stock-market crash
      • This retirement plan is for people who are planning to be poor when they retire
    • Smart investors understand taxes before investing
    • I am not saying 401(K) plans are bad, although I would never have one. For me, they are too expensive, too risky, too tax-inefficient, and unfair to the investor
    • I believe there are better ways to invest, but they require financial education
    • “If you are a true investor, it does not matter if the markets are going up or coming down. A true investor does well in any market condition.”
    • “Remember that the U.S. dollar has lost 95% of its value since 1971. It will not take long to lose the rest of its value.”
    • “The more people you are indebted to, the poorer you are…The more people you have indebted to you, the wealthier you are. That’s the game.”
    • Proverbs 24:1-12 NLT
    • Matthew 11:28-30 NLT

  • Honor Parents and Purpose
    2026/06/25

    Key Outcomes

On June 23, 2026 LaCole shared two major personal announcements with her Living Radiance group: she is leaving Faith Church to join Union Baptist Church of Chesterfield, and she has secured a new apartment moving in July 1st. The group responded with full support, framing both decisions as acts of obedience to God. The session also included a spiritually rich reflection on Father's Day, family reunion insights, and lessons from a women's conference. Encouragement for Men's Mental Health Awareness Month.

    Announcements

    • Church transition: LaCole is leaving Faith Church after ~1.5 years of growing dissatisfaction with megachurch structure, nepotism in leadership, and lack of community intimacy; moving to Union Baptist Church of Chesterfield.
    • Living Radiance continues: The connect group will remain accessible through Faith Church's platform — open to non-Faith Church members — so recordings and notes stay available.
    • New apartment secured: 500 sq ft one-bedroom at $665/month (down from $728); gated community with security cameras, free parking, no carpet; move-in July 1st.
    • Women's Conference: Attended a 6-hour Saturday conference at Union Baptist Church of Chesterfield for $25

    Decisions Made

    • LaCole will maintain her connect group leader status at Faith Church while personally attending UBCC
    • Group unanimously affirmed the church transition as God-directed; framed Faith Church as a foundation, not a final destination.

    Key Themes & Reflections

    • Matthew 6:33 ("Seek the kingdom of God above all else") surfaced repeatedly across the weekend — at the women's conference, family reunion, and in a 5-hour conversation with Aunt Greta.
    • Father's Day breakthrough: First year LaCole genuinely honored her late father (Lamont Purley, passed April 2014) without grief or anger; moved by a young man's testimony about forgiving his absent father.
    • Core lesson from Aunt Greta: LaCole has carried a lifelong burden to make others proud since childhood; the reframe — make God proud first, everything else follows.
    • Women's conference takeaway: "Throne before the phone" — prioritize God before scrolling; prayer must be intentional, not habitual. BUSY reframed as "Being Under Satan's Yoke."
    • 1 Peter 4:10 cited: Use God-given gifts to serve others, not self; serving others reduces self-centeredness and opens the door to receiving blessings.
    • Community/village theme: Great-uncle's account of shared breastfeeding and collective child-rearing as a model of true Black community; breakdown of the village linked to isolation, depression, and generational damage.

You can always improve yourself and your situation. Walk in faith and move in purpose with love.

  • Let’s Appreciate Good Men
    2026/06/23

    Key Outcomes

The session recorded on June 16, 2025 focused on Men's Mental Health Awareness Month (June), exploring why men's mental health goes undiscussed, the systemic and social pressures men face in relationships, and how both men and women must hold themselves accountable to break destructive cycles. Biblical scripture was used to ground the discussion in themes of weakness, humility, and purposeful living.

    Decisions Made

    • Men's mental health is under-acknowledged: Despite June being Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, virtually no men LaCole spoke with — over a dozen — had raised or discussed it.
    • Negative narratives dominate: Toxic relationship stories and "deadbeat" narratives get disproportionate social media traction; healthy relationships and good men are largely invisible online.
    • Accountability is mutual: Women must also call out destructive female behavior (e.g., using children as weapons, initiating violence) — not only hold men accountable.
    • False media messaging is harmful: Content framed as empowerment often deepens relational destruction; consumers must critically filter what they absorb.

    Key Discussion Points

    • Why men don't seek mental health help: Men are socially conditioned to suppress emotions; excuses rooted in upbringing persist even when resources are widely available and visible.
    • Relationship dynamics: LaCole's relative's situation illustrated how dismissal, lack of validation, and pressure around marriage push men away from commitment — especially when communication is broken.
    • Legal/financial fears around marriage: Men, particularly Black men, fear divorce laws in community-property states that could strip decades of individual financial work.
    • Co-parenting weaponization: Some mothers restrict father access and use children as leverage, yet publicly frame themselves as solo parents — a dynamic that rarely gets scrutinized.
    • Men and grace: A father's advice shared by LaCole's boyfriend — "If she cannot offer grace, she is not someone you want to marry" — was highlighted as rare but valuable relational wisdom.

    Scripture References

    • 2 Corinthians 12:5–10 — Power is made perfect in weakness; leaning on Christ through hardship rather than self-reliance.
    • 2 Peter 2:1–3 — Warning against false teachers who spread destructive messages under the guise of empowerment.
    • Hebrews 12:28–29 — Prioritize pleasing God over seeking human validation and approval.
    • Philippians 1:6 — God completes the good work He begins; men should focus on their God-given purpose.

    Resources Shared

Urban League program (West Florissant, St. Louis): Men's program offering suits, interview coaching, and life navigation support — not limited to formerly incarcerated men.
