In this episode of Let’s Fix Modern Dating, I sit down with Jocelyn Cañas for an honest conversation about love bombing, boundaries, and what men and women may be getting wrong about modern relationships.

We start with one of Jocelyn’s biggest dating pain points: love bombing. She describes it as someone trying to create an intense emotional connection too quickly through attention, gifts, constant communication, and saying all the right things before genuinely knowing you.

She shares a personal experience where the relationship started intensely, but once she became emotionally invested, the consistency disappeared and boundaries began being disrespected.

That leads us into an important question: When does effort become manipulation? We discuss why the version of yourself you present at the beginning of a relationship needs to be sustainable, and why people should date with honesty and intention instead of creating an unrealistic version of themselves just to win someone over.

We also have a deeper conversation about masculine and feminine roles. Jocelyn says she prefers a man who can take the lead, especially in the early stages of dating, because it allows her to feel more comfortable in her feminine energy, but she also emphasizes communication, transparency, and making sure both people actually agree on what “traditional” roles mean.

From there, things get even more interesting when we talk about money and marriage. Jocelyn says she would not want to financially support a man and explains why she believes women should still maintain some financial independence even if they have a partner capable of providing for them.

Then she gives one of the most provocative takes of the episode:

Marriage should be viewed as a business transaction.

Jocelyn explains why she believes women who want children should be extremely intentional about who they marry because pregnancy, motherhood, career impact, physical health, and mental health can create major sacrifices.

We also bring back Crazy or Not, where I give Jocelyn unconventional ideas that might, or might not, help fix modern dating.

We debate:

Should you run a background check before entering a relationship?

Should couples share phone passcodes?

Should couples share their locations 24/7?

Should opposite-sex friendships be banned once you enter a relationship?

Dana shares what she believes men are getting wrong in modern dating, including a lack of accountability, consistency, respect, and follow-through. We break down what women actually mean when they say they want a confident man, why confidence has less to do with money or status than many men think, and how a man can demonstrate leadership without becoming controlling.

We also dive into one of the biggest disconnects between men and women: loneliness. I argue that women only notice 1 out of every 10 men they see. Due to this, they may feel lonely because they don't like the options available to them. However, a large number of men experience a completely different reality where they literally have no romantic options at all.

Dana then explains why women may only notice a small percentage of the men around them and says confidence and “leader energy” can make a man stand out even if he isn't the best-looking or richest guy in the room.

And for the first time, we introduce “Crazy or Not”, a new segment where I present unconventional ideas that could potentially fix modern dating and ask Dana whether they're brilliant…or completely crazy.
