  • Let’s Focus on God! – Podcast Episode No. Eight
    2025/03/02

**Summary Transcripts for this episode are ONLY Available at this time:

Hello everyone, this is Autumn J. Rountree, and I'm excited to return with another podcast episode. It’s been three years since my last few episodes, aside from a live update in December 2024. My previous episodes are still available on platforms like Pandora and iHeart Podcasts, and you can find *Let's Focus on God* on social media as well.

Due to technical issues with Anchor's merger with Spotify, I’ve moved my podcast hosting to Podbean. Let’s start this episode with a prayer, asking for guidance and wisdom as we explore the topic of forgiveness.

Forgiveness is essential for finding peace, even though it can be challenging. Holding onto grudges can lead to bitterness, which I often struggle with. A recent incident with my upstairs neighbor highlighted this struggle, emphasizing that forgiveness brings inner peace and happiness.

Ephesians 4:32 encourages us to forgive as God forgives us, freeing us from bitterness and allowing us to tap into God's grace. By embracing forgiveness, we create space for healing and growth instead of clinging to negativity.

I’ll reference several Bible verses that highlight the importance of forgiveness, including Matthew 6:14-15 and Colossians 3:13, which stress that our forgiveness is tied to our willingness to forgive others. Forgiveness is not just a suggestion; it is a command essential for maintaining unity within the Christian community.

I also reflect on personal growth through forgiveness, sharing my struggles with faith and health issues, including my recent diagnosis of sleep apnea. Additionally, I touch on the tragic cases of Sonia Massey and Madeline Soto, raising questions about accountability and justice in complex situations.

As we conclude this segment, I invite you to reflect on how forgiveness can alleviate burdens in your life. Remember, there is currently no way to financially support the podcast, but your engagement and prayers are appreciated.

**Summary Transcripts for this episode are ONLY Available at this time:

    **Duration:** 0:01 – 9:11

    ## Introduction: What Does Faith Do? **(0:01)**

Autumn J. Rountree opens this special episode of the podcast *Let’s Focus on God* by exploring the impact of faith in the believer's life. She references sources like PraisePhilly.com and Christianity.com that highlight how faith brings salvation, answers to prayer, healing, prosperity, peace, love, joy, and liberation. It is also explained that faith builds, obeys, blesses, longs for, and worships. With this as a foundation, three biblical accounts are presented to illustrate how faith transforms lives.

    ## The Faith of King Nebuchadnezzar Influenced by Daniel **(0:50)**

The first account revolves around King Nebuchadnezzar and his relationship with Daniel and his Israeli friends (Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah), renamed as Belteshazzar, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. In the book of Daniel (chapter 1, verses 3–7), the king assigns them tasks related to his food and wine.

Later, Nebuchadnezzar builds a golden statue and imposes its worship (Daniel 3:1–22). When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refuse to worship it, they are thrown into a fiery furnace but emerge unscathed due to their faith in God. This miracle changes the king's perspective, leading him to praise the God of Israel and issue a decree demanding respect for Him (Daniel 3:25–29; 4:1–3).

Subsequently, the king has a disturbing dream that only Daniel (Belteshazzar) can interpret: Nebuchadnezzar will become like an animal and eat grass like cattle for seven years as divine punishment (Daniel 4:8–33). At the end of this period, the king regains his sanity, praises God, and acknowledges His eternal dominion (Daniel 4:34–37). Thus, Daniel inspires a profound transformation in the king, based on faith and obedience to God.

    ## The Brave Faith of Gideon **(5:32)**

The second account is about Gideon, a judge of Israel who initially doubts but whose faith grows through a series of signs and actions. An angel persuades him to fight against the Midianites (Judges 6:12, 20–21). His first act of faith is to destroy the altar of Baal with ten servants, enraging the townspeople, but they cannot harm him because Baal does not intervene (Judges 6:27–33).

God continues to strengthen Gideon's faith through signs with a fleece (Judges 6:36–40). He then guides him in selecting soldiers and empowers him to defeat the enemy. Gideon captures two Midianite princes and destroys the tower of Peniel, killing their men (Judges 7:4–25; 8:4–23). He rejects the offer to be king and attributes all glory to God, reaffirming that only the Lord should rule over Israel.

    ## The Restored Faith of Jonah **(7:35)**

The final account focuses on Jonah, whom God commands to preach in Nineveh. Jonah disobeys and flees on a ship (Jonah 1:1–3), fearing the potential violent reaction of the people. In the midst of a storm, Jonah takes responsibility and suggests being thrown into the sea, showing an act of faith and sacrifice (Jonah 1:5–15).

A great fish swallows him, and during three days and nights inside, Jonah reflects, repents, and prays to God (Jonah 1:17; 2:2–9). God frees him and gives him a second chance (Jonah 2:10; 3:1–2). This time, Jonah fulfills his mission, preaches in Nineveh, and leads the city to repent of its wickedness (Jonah 3:3–10). His faith, strengthened through trial, transforms an entire city.

    ## Conclusion and Final Message **(9:02)**

Autumn concludes the episode by reiterating that her goal is to share uplifting themes that honor the Word of God and strengthen Christian faith. She invites listeners to support the podcast through contributions and to send comments, suggestions, or testimonies via Anchor.fm or her email: focusonthispodcast.com.

    ## Final Summary: This special episode highlights how faith can transform the lives of kings, judges, and prophets. Through the stories of Nebuchadnezzar, Gideon, and Jonah, it shows that faith not only guides to personal salvation but can also collectively impact entire nations.

  • Let’s Focus on God - Putting Faith in God - Episode Five
    2024/09/08
Hi, Christian podcast listeners! It's Autumn J. Rountree and I'm back with my fifth podcast which involves another discussion on faith. I will be covering two new sets of Biblical stories that feature people depending on God for strength to get them through their tough times. I hope you'll enjoy what's ahead! (The original episode was created on: September 28, 2021) This Episode's (Number Five) Transcript: Let's Focus on God, Putting Faith in God, Episode 5. Hello everyone, it's Autumn Rountree sharing with you another podcast. I decided to create this episode as a continuation on the previous subject discussed, which was faith. Today I will be talking about first Samuel, particularly concerning the story of Elkanah and his family. But before I go into the topic, I'll start this podcast in prayer. Dear God, thank you for allowing me a chance to do another podcast. Please guide my podcast listeners through this episode and bless their hearts as they hear the story of faith in Elkanah's family. We appreciate your graciousness while the scriptures are being spoken. Amen and Amen. The topic setting starts in 1 Samuel Chapter 1 verses 1-7. Elkanah was married to two women. One was Hannah and the other was Peninnah. The two were rivals according to 1 Samuel Chapter 1 verses 6 and 7. Hannah wanted a child, although at the current time she couldn't have one because God shut her womb. Elkanah was in a polygamous relationship, which may have affected how the women felt about each other. Peninnah had children of her own and was disrespectful to Hannah, possibly because her husband was more thoughtful of Hannah. You can find this in 1 Samuel Chapter 1 verse 5. Why do you think Elkanah cherished Hannah more than Peninnah? Maybe it's because Hannah couldn't have children, so he felt sorry for her. Maybe it's because Hannah was his first wife, which made that situation more endearing. Despite her grieving, she turned to God and prayed for a son. She also made a vow that once her child was born, she would give him to the Lord and he would be a Nazarite, which would mean his hair would never be cut. This would be public and a visible sign to everyone due to the vow. Someone named Eli, a high priest, saw Hannah praying and he gave her his blessings through her time of grief and sorrow. This uplifted her spirits as she received the promise with faith. Her dedication to God fulfilled her heart and renewed her faith, although the promise was not yet due. This is found in 1 Samuel Chapter 1 verses 17-18. The Bible also states that Elkanah and Hannah worshipped early before the Lord, and before long the news comes that Hannah had conceived a child, which she named Samuel. Her continuous faith in God gave her courage and had pursued patience. You can read 1 Samuel Chapter 1 verses 19-20 to see what I'm talking about. Faith can play a big part in a person's life like Hannah's. Faith is absolutely essential in receiving God's blessings. Hannah received God's blessings just by reaching out to him on a daily basis for comfort and strength. I also wanted to discuss a very similar biblical story that compares with Hannah's. It also deals with faith and trusting that God will pull people through. It's about Elizabeth and her husband Zacharias, who were two elderly people. The couple were very religious but had no children. You can find this in Luke chapter 1 verses 5-7. Elizabeth could not have children even as an older woman, but the couple prayed and stayed faithful to God. Having no children were a sign of God's disfavor, leading to social scorn and ridicule. This is a piece of information I found on a website which is womaninscripture.com forward slash Elizabeth. (womaninscripture.com/elizabeth) The source reveals that Elizabeth was at least 60 years old and well past childbearing years. In those days, women without children were either belittled or became gossip among other Jewish women. Elizabeth had strength in God while dealing with this emotional strain. Luckily enough, an angel came to Zacharias and announced that his wife Elizabeth would have a son. He is also told that his son's name will be John. The angel also claimed that the child will be a delight to his parents in the world and be wonderful before the eyes of the Lord. Because Zacharias is in so much disbelief, he becomes mute. Read Luke chapter 1 verses 11-20. Being in such a way almost kept Zacharias from telling Elizabeth what happened. Anyway, somehow he was able to tell his wife the good news. She believes it to be true and is humble and grateful for the blessing. You can read more about this story in full detail by referring back to the website womaninscripture.com forward slash Elizabeth, for complete insight. Finally, I have some questions to ask before I close the podcast. Question 1. - Why do you think Elizabeth and Hannah had so much faith in God? Question 2. - What do you think they did to keep their faith ...

  • Let’s Focus on God - Understanding the Meaning of Faith - Episode Four
    2024/09/08
Hi, everyone! I'm back, online and ready to discuss the Bible! In this podcast, I will be reviewing the subject of faith. I was driven to create the podcast because it's something a lot of people, including myself, struggle with. But things are slowly improving! I will present my topic in the best way possible and hope that anyone who's falling short of faith will get a better understanding of it after hearing what was said. (The original episode was created on: August 28, 2021) This Episode's Podcast Transcripts: Hello! This is Autumn Rountree returning for another podcast. It's been a while since I've last been on, and that's because I was trying to figure out a biblical topic to study and press upon. So, I finally settled on the subject of faith. I thought it would be a good idea to discuss this one because a lot of people, including myself, have a weakness in this area. But before I get started with the program, I'd like to open up in prayer. Let's pray. Dear god, thank you for allowing another opportunity for others to hear this podcast. Grant the listeners a chance to realize the meaning of faith and how to live by it. Help me as well as those who need strength through struggles and doubt. Help us all learn to understand what faith can do through this faith lesson today. Amen and amen. I hope this lesson on faith will provide answers to questions regarding what exactly is faith, plus what can it do for us. I challenged myself by looking up ways to improve faith and how to grow into it. One reference about this can be found on: www.conformingtojesus.com under What is Faith. I'm going to review some essential findings. According to the website, the biblical definition and meaning of faith is found in Hebrews eleven one, now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the well-established and firm foundational structure that stands under and supports the expectation of something whose fulfillment is sure as it will certainly happen based on the knowledge that we that we have. Faith is the verified and established proof of things that we have not yet seen happen, but that will surely happen based on everything that we have learned throughout time and know. So, what is faith in God? How can we have faith and trust in God? How can faith and trust in God grow? Faith in God is based on knowing him and establishing a strong and lasting relationship with him. When we know someone well and we know that this individual is dependable, trustable, and reliable, then we can have faith in him or her. Same thing happens when we get to know God and establish a relationship with him. We learn more and more about him as we go, and we learn that he is dependable, trustable, and reliable. We learn that we can rest assured that God is a soft spot where to land and a loving, protective father that shelters His children and keeps His word and covenant with them. Romans ten seventeen. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. This means that faith comes by understanding and obeying the word of God. Faith is understanding completely the things hoped for and that by which things not seen yet have been tested and proved in the past as we have obeyed and have seen the positive results of our obedience in our life. Faith is energized and empowered and becomes effectual by walking in God's commandments. Faith grows by obedience. Another website, Beliefnet, shows how we can build godly faith. Faith is recognized by most as the single most important element in Christian life. We are told in Hebrews eleven one that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the convictions of things not seen. When we have faith in God, we trust not only that he is there but also in His promises. Hebrews eleven six reminds us that without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Trusting in God and His promises requires faith. But how do we build godly faith in a world of sin and brokenness? Another way to build godly faith is through prayer. Acknowledge our heavenly father as holy. Start with my father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Matthew six nine. Ask God for the fullness of the holy spirit to be at play in your life. If you then who are evil know how to give good gifts to your holy children, how much more will the heavenly father give the holy spirit to those who (who) ask him? Luke eleven thirteen. We build godly faith when we give all our all of our heart and mind to God, not things of the world. Matthew six twenty-one is a great reminder of this. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Proverbs also reminds us that it that it it's important that we protect our hearts. There are plenty of people in the bible who were big on faith. The following seven biblical characters were known for their trust in God at all costs. The first one on the list is Noah. ...
