And how do you know where you are?

Today I want to talk about something that might seem completely unrelated to language learning at first. Exercise. And sleep. Because when we think about improving our English, we usually think about studying vocabulary, listening to podcasts, doing grammar exercises or speaking with someone. We don’t usually think, “Maybe I should go for a run if I want to improve my English.” But your brain doesn’t really work in isolation from the rest of your body, and there is some fascinating research showing that physical activity and sleep can actually support the processes that make learning possible.

Today I have another little history episode for you because we are going to answer a question that has probably crossed your mind if you have ever travelled abroad, specifically to Great Britain.

Why do people in Britain drive on the left while most of the world drives on the right? And maybe an even more interesting question: if almost everyone drives on the right today, why didn’t Britain change as well? Why do they have to be like this and confuse everyone who travels there as a tourist, am I right?
