Lt Col ( Res) Sarit Zehavi, 15 years Israel military intelligence, the founder and president of the ALMA Research and Education Center, monitoring the security issues on Israel's northern borders, is interviewed on BBC radio about Israel's prosecution of the ongoing defensive war against Hezbollah in Lebanon, whose mission with full support from Iran is the total annihilation and destruction of the Jewish state: Israel. With the assertion that it contravenes international law, Sarit is grilled on the recent bombings against 100 Hezbollah locations in Beirut. Pointing out that just as Hamas does, Hezbollah uses innocent population as human shields, and that in some circumstances where providing warnings to vacate buildings will have a negative impact on the operation, the bombing of buildings with civilian collateral damage does not contravene international law. Sarit also details that the Lebanese government provided commitments to 20 years ago to disarm Hezbollah, and that Israel is not bombing Lebanon as the BBC presenter asserts, but Israel is bombing Hezbollah. Tahli also talks about the need for individuals to make submissions to the Commission if they have experienced or witnessed acts of antisemitism, and brings up the important point that submissions can be based solely on the impact on community lifestyle that such events have had (e.g. the ever-present, tight security at Jewish schools, synagogues and at community events). Morry Frenkel speaks with Professor Henry Brodaty AO, Scientia Professor of Ageing and Mental Health at UNSW and Co-Director of the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing. He is an internationally recognised leader in dementia research, policy and care, and was this year named both Senior Australian of the Year and NSW Senior Australian of the Year. Professor Brodaty provides the facts and figures about dementia in Australia and the impact on sufferers, families, carers and society in general, of this group of conditions that affect the brain and cause a decline in memory, thinking and the ability to carry out everyday activities. Professor Brodaty also talks about the current state of testing for Alzheimer’s disease and the available medications, as well as describing his Maintain Your Brain research that revealed how changing various aspects of lifestyle can slow progression of dementia.
