    2025/08/13

Kingdom Culture Phoenix exists to disciple people to know and follow Jesus through Word and Spirit.

    🔑 Key Points:

    God Keeps His Promises

    • Israel arrives at Mount Sinai (Jebel Musa) — the very place God told Moses He would bring them (Exodus 3:12).
    • God never promises what He won’t fulfill.

God Saves Us to Bring Us to Himself

    • Exodus 19:4–5 – God bore Israel “on eagles’ wings” to Himself.
    • Salvation isn’t the end — fellowship with God is the goal.

“Salvation is never an end in itself. There is always something greater, and that is God Himself and our fellowship with Him.” — Phillip Graham Ryken

    • Matthew 28:16–20 – We are saved before we are sent.

God Calls Us to Holiness and Mission

    • Exodus 19:6 – Israel was to be a kingdom of priests and holy nation.
    • 1 Peter 2:9 – Believers are chosen to proclaim His excellencies.
    • Christ-followers are marked by the blood of Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit.

Our Relationship with God Is Personal, But Not Casual

    • Just because Jesus made God approachable doesn’t mean we should approach Him casually.
    • True obedience flows from gratitude and reverence.
    • We are saved by grace through faith but sanctified through obedience.

God Wants Us to Hear and Believe Him

    • Exodus 19:9 – God’s presence was visible so the people would hear His voice and believe Him forever.
    • God wants more than to save us from hell; He wants to draw us into His presence daily.

  • Presence Driven Leaders (Part 3)| Burt Miller | Year of Holiness
    2025/08/07

Kingdom Culture Phoenix exists to disciple people to know and follow Jesus through Word and Spirit.

This week Guest Pastor Burt Miller from Solid Ground Church continues in out series as we continue in the book of Exodus chapter 18:13-27.

    🔑 Key Points

    What It Means (Then):

    A. Moses Needed Help

    • Moses was overwhelmed trying to serve everyone by himself (v.13).
    • Israel had hundreds of thousands of people — leadership had to expand.

    B. God Wanted to Do Something Greater

    • This shift in leadership wasn’t just practical — it was preparation for something bigger: the giving of the Law and the formation of a nation.

“This story paves the way for the giving of the law... and ultimately the rule of law itself.”
    – Tim Chester

What It Means for Us (Now):

    A. We Need Your Help

    • Ministry is too great to be done by a few.

Ephesians 4:11–12 – The role of leaders is to equip the saints to do the work.

    • When everyone serves, the body functions best.

    B. We Need Your Help So God Can Do Something Greater

    • Acts 6 shows how delegation of responsibility leads to church growth.
    • You stepping up makes room for others to hear the Word, be served, and be saved.

Matthew 16:18 – God’s Church will prevail when we build it together.

“We will never do anything more significant with our lives than partnering with God to bring His kingdom on earth.”

✅ What It Means for You (Personally):

    A. You Will Need Help

    • Trying to lead or live out your faith alone will burn you out.
    • God designed community to carry burdens together.

James 5:16“Pray for one another, that you may be healed.”

    B. You Will Need Help So God Can Do Something Greater

    • God’s calling for your life involves others.
    • Leadership and obedience require both humility and teamwork.

    Challenge Question:

Are you carrying too much alone… or are you missing your opportunity to carry something with others?

  • Presence Driven Leaders Part 2 | Eric Upton | Year of Holiness
    2025/08/05

Kingdom Culture Phoenix exists to disciple people to know and follow Jesus through Word and Spirit.

    🔑 Key Points

God Uses People to Reach People

    • No one comes to Jesus without someone being a witness.
    • Your life may be a major part of God's plan for someone else's salvation.
    • Ordinary faithfulness leads to extraordinary transformation.

✅ Being a Witness Requires Two Things

    1. Walking obediently with Jesus.
    2. Taking that walk public.

“Make me a fork in the road...” – Jim Elliot

Your Life Reveals What You Worship

    Ask yourself:

    • What do I give my attention, money, and celebration to?
    • What do I fear or get defensive about?

    These often expose hidden idols.

Your Story Points to a Greater Story

    • Moses named his sons Gershom (sojourner) and Eliezer (God is my help) to reflect God’s faithfulness.
    • Your past and present can be powerful when surrendered to God.

Be a Witness Through Genuine Relationship

    • Love people better than the world—without compromising truth.
    • Care deeply and correct gently.
    • Let your love for Jesus overflow into every conversation.

    Learn to Share Your Testimony

    Four simple steps:

    1. Who were you before Jesus?
    2. What led you to surrender?
    3. What changed with Jesus?
    4. Ask: Has anything like that happened to you?

    When You Share, God Moves

    • Jethro rejoiced, praised God, and made a sacrifice after hearing Moses’ story.
    • God can use your story to bring people to worship.

The Harvest Is Ready — So Be Ready

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” – Matthew 9:37-38
Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Pray, obey, and share.

  • Presence Driven Leaders (Part 1) | Eric Upton | Year of Holiness
    2025/07/22

Kingdom Culture Phoenix exists to disciple people to know and follow Jesus through Word and Spirit.

We win life’s battles not by our own strength, but through prayer, the support of others, and trusting God who fights for us. This week Pastor Eric continues in our Exodus 17:8-16.

    🔑 Key Points

    The Enemy Targets Weaknesses

    1. Amalek represents enemies that exploit vulnerabilities.
    2. The enemy seeks entry through spiritual and cultural weaknesses.
    3. Two Types of Courage
      • Courage to start and courage to finish — endurance is key.
      • Men are called to work, love, and obey.

    Two Parallel Battlefields

    1. The Physical (action, service).
    2. The Spiritual (prayer, worship, fasting).
    3. Prayer Is the Battle
      • Victory comes when we persist in prayer, not just strategy.
      • "Prayer is not preparation for the battle; it is the battle." — Leonard Ravenhill

We Need Others to Stand With Us

    1. Moses needed Aaron and Hur — we need spiritual partners.
    2. Remember the Victory
      • Build reminders of God's faithfulness.
      • YHWH Nissi: The Lord is My Banner — our identity and victory are in Him.

  • Trusting God Builds Holiness| Eric Upton | Year of Holiness
    2025/07/15

Kingdom Culture Phoenix exists to disciple people to know and follow Jesus through Word and Spirit.

    Being presence-driven isn’t a strategy for a better life.
It is the pathway to a holy life. This week Pastor Eric continues in Exodus 17: 1-7.

✅ A Test in the Wilderness

    Exodus 17:1 (ESV)
"...They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink."

    • Rephidim means "resting place" — yet the people found no rest there.
    • They forgot to be grateful for what God had already provided.
    • Gratitude softens the heart.
    • When we forget gratitude, our hearts harden.

✅ The Danger of Blame & Quarreling

    Exodus 17:2 (ESV)
"Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and said, 'Give us water to drink.'”

    • Quarrel (רִיב - rîv): Hostility and opposition.
    • Israel’s sin:
      • Demanded God's provision
      • Doubted God's protection
      • Denied God's presence
    • Are we guilty of putting an “Or else…” ultimatum on God?

Blame gives us a false sense of control when life feels out of control.

✅ Accusation from a Place of Lack

    Exodus 17:3 (ESV)
"...Why did you bring us up out of Egypt, to kill us... with thirst?"

    • The things we thirst for often become the evidence we use to accuse God.
    • Instead of accusation, here's how to respond when we feel lack:
      1. Gratitude: Thank God out loud for His past provisions.
      2. Remembrance: Recall and speak where He has answered before.
      3. Declaration: Speak Scripture to declare who God is.
      4. Faith: Borrow faith from the Bible, community testimonies, and your own story.

God Provides Even in Our Accusation

    Exodus 17:4-6 (ESV)
"Behold, I will stand before you... strike the rock, and water shall come out of it."

    • God’s mercy: He responds not with punishment, but with provision.
    • Jesus is the rock.

    John 7:37-38 (ESV):
"If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink... out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."

    • On the cross, Jesus was struck — and from His side flowed the living water we need.

The Real Question of the Heart

    Exodus 17:7 (ESV)
"Is the LORD among us or not?"

    • This is always the question behind our grumbling and doubt.
    • The answer is always: Yes, He is.
    • Trusting God is the way we walk in holiness.

  • Rest in His Provision
    2025/07/08

Kingdom Culture Phoenix exists to disciple people to know and follow Jesus through Word and Spirit.

Burnout happens when we idolize what we do and ignore who we’re created to be. The Sabbath isn’t just about what we do or don’t do—it’s about who we worship. This week Pastor Eric teaches out of Exodus 16 and explains what is a Sabbath and how to keep it Holy.

    🔑 Key Takeaways

Sabbath Is God’s Gift of Rest

    📖 Exodus 16:22–23
God commanded His people to prepare on the sixth day so they could cease and rest on the seventh.

    🕊️ Definition (שׁבת - Shabbat):
To cease, stop, be absent, rest, celebrate.

Sabbath rest doesn’t happen by accident. You have to build it into your life.

Rest Flows From Identity, Not Performance

Christianity isn’t about self-improvement (you working on you).
It’s about spiritual transformation—God working in you.

There are three key differences between a slave and a child:

SlaveChild of GodWorks to earn approval | Lives from already being approved (Gal 4:6–7)
Strives for provision | Trusts in the Father’s provision (Rom 8:14–17)
Runs away in trouble | Runs to the Father in trouble (1 John 3:1–2)

✅ Sabbath Is a Faith Step, Not a Religious Rule

    📖 Exodus 16:24–26
God preserved what they prepared ahead of time—and no worms or stench this time.

Ceasing work for a day declares: “God is my Provider.”

The Sabbath refills the four key tanks in our lives:

    1. 🏃 Physical
    2. 💭 Mental
    3. 💓 Emotional
    4. 🙏 Spiritual

    What Sabbath Practically Looks Like:

    1. Dedicated time in God’s presence (Word, worship, prayer)
    2. Rest from physical labor
    3. Rest from mental stress/work
    4. Meal with family and community
    5. Reflect on God’s faithfulness and provision

    Sabbath Is a Creation Ordinance

    📖 Exodus 16:27–30
Some still went out to gather—but there was nothing. Disobedience led to lack, not abundance.

The blessing of giving your life to Jesus is found in:

    1. What you gain

    2. What you lose

Sabbath reminds us: God provides what we need when we trust His rhythm.

    A Legacy of Trust

    📖 Exodus 16:31–36
The manna was to be kept as a reminder of God’s provision for future generations.

When you practice Sabbath as a family, you declare to your children:
“We can rest in the finished work of Jesus because God takes care of us.”

  • How to Walk in Holiness Daily | Eric Upton | Year of Holiness
    2025/06/30

Kingdom Culture Phoenix exists to disciple people to know and follow Jesus through Word and Spirit.

This week Pastor Eric dives into Exodus 16:9- 21, he shares how Christianity isn’t just about escaping hell but it’s about entering into a daily, personal relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

    🔑 Key Takeaways

God Invites You to Come Near – Not Because of You, But Because of Him

    • God hears our complaints but still calls us close.
    • His holiness, not our worthiness, is the reason we can approach Him.
    • Hardships may be God's tool to sanctify and prepare us.

✅ God Reveals His Glory Even When We Don’t Deserve It

    • The “glory of the Lord” (Kābôd) appeared in their wilderness.
    • God graciously provides signs and wonders despite grumbling.
    • Jesus is the ultimate revelation of God's glory.

Daily Encounters with God Are Essential

    • Manna symbolizes God's daily provision.
    • A "daily encounter" = intentional time in worship, prayer, Scripture, and response.
    • Parents should model this for their children.

Obedience to God Brings Wholeness – Partial Obedience Does Not

    • God gave specific instructions for gathering manna.
    • Disobedience led to corruption (manna spoiled).
    • Obedience is not legalism—it’s the pathway to life and holiness.

✅ Holiness Is a Daily Journey, Not a One-Time Decision

    • Manna had to be gathered morning by morning.
    • God designed us to depend on Him daily, not occasionally.
    • Holiness is cultivated through consistent relationship with God

The secret to walking in holiness daily is to respond to God by drawing near through repentance and faith, to walk in obedience as He directs not as culture or comfort dictates and to encounter Him daily through His Word, prayer, and the Holy Spirit.

  • How to Grieve the Holy Spirit | Eric Upton | Year of Holiness
    2025/06/24

Kingdom Culture Phoenix exists to disciple people to know and follow Jesus through Word and Spirit.

In this week’s message, Pastor Eric explores Exodus 16, where Israel’s complaints in the wilderness reveal how quickly we lose sight of God’s past faithfulness when things get difficult. Despite their grumbling, God responds with mercy, providing manna from heaven and reminding us that gratitude and obedience invite His presence, while a complaining spirit grieves the Holy Spirit.

    🔑 Key Takeaways

    Grumbling Grieves the Holy Spirit

    • Complaining and bitterness replace faith and gratitude, which deeply grieve God's Spirit (Ephesians 4:30-31).

God Still Provides in Our Rebellion

    • Despite Israel’s complaints, God graciously gives manna and meat, showing His patience and provision.

    Sanctification Through Hardship

    • God uses the wilderness to test, refine, and sanctify His people, preparing them for their purpose.

Obedience Is the Response to Grace

    • Receiving God's provision (like manna) comes with a call to walk in obedience and trust.

    Gratitude Pleases the Spirit

    • Thankfulness, praise, and trust even in lack invite the Holy Spirit’s presence and power.

Looking Back Fondly on Bondage Is Dangerous

    • Desiring Egypt (sinful past) shows spiritual immaturity and offends the Spirit who leads us into freedom.

    God’s Ultimate Provision Is Christ

    • The manna foreshadows Jesus, the true Bread of Life, freely given but requiring daily, faithful reception.

Even when the Israelites complained in the wilderness, God responded with grace and provision, showing that He is patient, faithful, and uses hardship to grow our trust and dependence on Him.
