概要
Some of the best parenting advice comes from talking it through with someone who gets it. Just Give Me a Minute grew out of years of conversations between best friends and moms Robyn and Avanti about parenting, ADHD, special education, and everything in between. Robyn brings a background in special education, executive function, and parent coaching, while Avanti brings firsthand experience advocating for her child, all while navigating life with ADHD herself. • The Flowchart for Fun: Navigating Life With Special Needs
    2026/10/23

Choosing joy sounds great in theory, but what does it actually look like when everyday activities come with extra challenges?

In this episode, we talk about the realities of navigating the world as a special needs family- from vacations and birthday parties to the emotional and physical challenges of simply getting out the door.

We introduce our very own “Flowchart for Fun,” a way to think about whether an experience will be more fun than hard (or more hard than fun), and how small adjustments can make a big difference.

We also get into the complicated feelings around asking for and accepting help, the isolation that can come with parenting a child with special needs, and the importance of finding people who make the hard things a little easier.

Whether you're raising a child with special needs or simply trying to find more ways to say yes, we hope this conversation resonates.

  • It Takes A Village. Preferably Nearby.
    2026/10/09

They say it takes a village to raise a child. But finding that village? Not always so easy.

In this episode, we're talking about the friendships that come with having kids, how those relationships evolve, and what happens when friends start to feel like family.

We share how our own friendship began, how our families' lives have become intertwined, and how raising a child with special needs can bring additional considerations to friendships and social experiences.

From neighborhood connections and Friday night hangouts to parenting styles, accessibility, and finding people who just get it, we reflect on what's worked for our families and what we've learned along the way.

We're certainly not experts on finding your village, but we're sharing what ours looks like, why it's meaningful to us, and how it's made the everyday parts of parenting a little more manageable (and a lot more fun).

  • Why We Put Things Off: The Emotional Side of Getting Things Done
    2026/09/17

Why do we avoid certain tasks, even when we know they need to get done? Sometimes it’s not the task itself, but the feelings attached to it.

In this episode, we talk about dread, overwhelm, perfectionism, and the emotional weight that can make even a simple email or phone call feel hard to approach. We also share practical ways to move forward, from naming what you’re feeling and using body doubling to breaking bigger tasks into smaller, more manageable steps.
