Journey to Christmasland on Substack for bonus content

One of our final bonus episodes of the season break! (substack only)

Season Two premiers on Halloween, but here’s another bonus episode to tide you over until then. This week we chose to do something seasonal for autumn to recognize the season of fantasy and the supernatural.

‘A Knight to Remember’ stars Hallmark fave Julie Gonzalo and newcomer James Trevena.

A statue of an English knight arrives in Chicago for an art exhibit. While cleaning the statue, museum conservator Emily impulsively kisses the statue, bringing him to life.

It’s the Halloween season in Christmasland, so we had to give some of the woo-woo fortune-telling aspects of this film a little grace. Easy to do with a cast this fantastic and Hallmark’s hallmark charm.

Will Emily ever discover true love?

Will Sir Griffin ever make his way back to the past so he can finish living out his present?

Will the museum ever stop making Emily do all the jobs?

Kira and Amelia answer all your questions and hand out episode awards:

• Robert A. Baron Villain Award for the most dastardly villain the film could produce
• Christmas Ham Award for the most over-the-top, entertaining performance
• Christmas Tree Topper for best performance

We don’t want to give too much away, but here are some very specific and nuanced hints about what to expect:

• Lacey Chabert
• Christmas contests
• Will they/won’t they
• Disneyworld
• Opposites attract

If we told you more we’d give away the whole game!

AN INTERVIEW IN PARADISE!

IG @JTChristmasland

Journey to Christmasland on Substack (lots of bonus content)

We’re so excited to bring you this interview with the co-writers of the A Prince in Paradise series (or A Royal in Paradise, depending on where you watch the movies), Adrian Powers and Caera Bradshaw.

You’ll remember Adrian from a previous interview after we reviewed ‘A Christmas Castle Proposal.’ We had so much fun together he agreed to drag his writing partner to the show after the release of the third film. You can watch that interview here and if you’d like to see our review, you’ll have to upgrade to a paid subscription as it was a bonus episode. Or you can wait until the Christmas season when we release it to the free side.

A delightful time was had by all. We covered a range of topics including how you write a movie with a writing partner, the highs and lows of filming, and the challenges of storytelling in the “Christmasland” format. There was also quite an extensive conversation about the name KIRA. You’ll have to watch to see the roller coast ride of that particular conversation.

We can’t say enough great things about these two artists. They were warm, open and generous. True Christmasland citizens!

Don’t forget to subscribe on YouTube and share with your friends who love the spirit of Christmas and love the cheesy coziness of tv Christmas movies (and movies from all the surrounding seasons…Christmasland has seasons too!).

We’re getting closer to the launch of Season 2 but we’ve still got a couple more bonus episodes for those of you with tickets to the VIP car on the train to Christmasland (upgrade your subscription to join us).

Today we’re reviewing the 2023 Hallmark Christmas movie ‘The Santa Summit.’

At a Santa themed holiday event, three teachers get their groove back, strengthen their friendship, and unexpectedly find love along the way.

We absolutely loved the premise of this movie - a Santa themed pub crawl through a beautiful Christmas town. In fact, we’ve been wondering if we should plan our own after watching this movie. If you’d like us to host a pub crawl in your area, drop your town in the comments!

Will Jordan and Liam ever find each other in this sea of Santas?

Will Stella finally get her groove back?

How much eggnog is too much eggnog?

Kira and Amelia answer all your questions and hand out episode awards:

• Robert A. Baron Villain Award for the most dastardly villain the film could produce

SUMMER REWIND SERIES: We’re getting closer to the launch of Season 2 but we’ve still got some time to replay some of our old podcast episodes.

This week is a fun one, probably our favorite episode of all time. We reviewed the Hallmark Christmas movie Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater, which set off a very tense discussion about the “ugly Christmas sweater” trend.

But the best part was an epic fact check from a Navy husband who had some nitpicks with USS Christmas. It was shocking to learn Hallmark may have gotten a few things wrong about Navy life, but it was a very educational experience. It will also be very clear that I (Kira) know nothing about military life or titles.

We had so much fun recording this episode and it was fun to go back re-listen. We were just on the cusp of 2021 and adjusting to life in the pandemic era, but as always, we remained faithful to the Christmas spirit.

Don’t forget that you can subscribe to our show on YouTube if that’s easier for you than the Substack player. Substack is where we house all our extra content, so make sure you’re subscribed and upgraded so you don’t miss one second of Christmas.

It’s here!

After months of anticipation, the third installment of the Prince In Paradise series arrives. Olivia and Prince Alexander are finally planning their wedding. Will it be the wedding of their dreams or does fate have other plans?

The whole gang is back together, with director (and JTC friend) Adrian Powers at the helm. Don’t forget to go back and listen to our ‘A Christmas Castle Proposal’ episode with Adrian from a few months ago.

Will Alexander and Olivia overcome their challenges to pull off the wedding of a lifetime?

Can Queen Patricia save the constitutional monarchy AND marry her only heir to a commoner?

Will Olivia’s mom finally stop being a buzzkill?

We’ll answer all your questions plus hand out awards. As per usual with our summer content, this one is behind a paywall but for those who don’t mind delayed gratification, we will re-release this on the free side during Christmas.

True fans will want to hear this today…it was so much fun. Don’t forget, you can find all our regular episodes at JTC on YouTube and stayed subscribed on Substack for your bonus content.
