Jo Lachapelle - Icebathing, Addiction, Depression, PTSD, and Mental Health | Matt Scarfo Podcast #12
Jo Lachapelle, or rather "The Ice Viking Dad" casts a shadow similar to many Gen-X men - a shadow with edges defined by loss, addiction, depression, coping, and reconciliation. Jo has found solace and reprieve in the frigid waters of ice bathing and, like many of the rest of us ice bathers, credits the cold water with creating just enough mental space to find peace in the chaos of daily life.
In this conversation, Jo speaks about how icebathing has saved him from depression, helped him manage his recovery from alcoholism and addiction, how it helps him find his peace, how a girl named Barefoot Sue saved his life, and living without fear.
